Demi's 'Full Throttle' Comeback
(CBS/AP)
Actress Demi Moore is making a high-profile return to acting with a starring role in the forthcoming "Charlie's Angels" sequel, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle."
Joining the film's trio of leading ladies, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lui and Drew Barrymore; Demi Moore plays ex-angel Madison Lee, who's gone bad and embraced the dark side.
Despite rumors of tension over her diva-like demands, Moore insists that there was a real friendship between her and the rest of the cast: "What your perception is, what other people see, what they see behind the scenes is truly genuine. The camaraderie, the spontaneous is really... it's what balances out all the effort that really is hard work."
She returns to acting after a considerable break and has undergone a severe regimen to regain her youthful figure.
The star follows a strict diet and it has been reported that she has also had $330,000 of plastic surgery including a facelift and liposuction.
Moore's physical fitness proved an asset when it came time to shoot the film's spectacular action sequences.
"It's exhausting especially when you are doing it over and over and it's not as if this is what any of us have an expertise in. But it's definitely a real adrenalin rush. Just jumping off the building and I am just jumping in to pads, it's still ... your heart's pounding. The funnier part is trying to look like we are real bad asses and Cameron and I going at it and the they say cut and we are like: 'Oh my God are you okay? Did I hit you? Sorry. Did my heel get you?'"
Moore went from being a twenty-something icon of the late '80s after starring in period classics "St. Elmo's Fire" and "About Last Night," to being one of Hollywood's top movie stars in the early '90s, with films like "Ghost" and "Indecent Proposal." But since starring in Woody Allen's "Deconstructing Harry" in 1997, the actress has made just one on screen appearance, in "Passion Of Mind."
However the actress is keen for this film not to be labeled as her "comeback" movie.
"First let's rule out the idea of comebacks because I didn't really go anywhere, I was just doing something else. I think because it held an opportunity to have a lot of fun, to really be involved in something that had a great opportunity to play, and really because G, [McG, the "Angels" director] Drew, the girls, Cameron and Lucy are very persuasive."
The 40-year old Moore caused a stir on Wednesday when she was accompanied to the Los Angeles premiere of the movie by both ex-husband Bruce Willis and current beau, 25-year-old actor Ashton Kutcher as well as her three children with Willis.
'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle' opens on June 27.
