Wedding In A Week
(CBS)
Lauren Anderson and Craig Shand from New Jersey applied to have The Early Show put together their wedding in a week.
So starting Monday, June 23, party planner Colin Cowie helped them figure out the theme for their big day. The couple has known each other since childhood. Lauren and Craig, who are 30 now, have been friends since they were 10 and started dating during their senior year of high school.
With a clear vision for their wedding, Cowie demystified the process of picking the right wedding wardrobe, visiting designer ateliers and showrooms -- Michelle Roth for the bride, Bloomingdale's for the groom.
Day two was set aside to select the flowers. If, like Lauren and Craig, you are getting married, this is a segment where you find out all you need to know about flowers, from centerpieces to bridal bouquets to boutonnières.
Wednesday was décor day with the bridal table all set up with plates, napkins, flatware and glassware, reflecting the motif choices made by the bride and groom. Cowie offered ideas for place cards, menu cards, thank you notes, etc.
Day four, was Cakes and rings. None other than renowned cake maker Sylvia Weinstock helped Cowie offer the couple the best from a selection of cakes: large cakes, mini cakes, or a variety of cupcakes in lieu of a massive wedding cake.
Always attentive to detail, Cowie offered suggestions as to how best to incorporate the bride's dress patterns/fabrics, flowers and colors to create the best wedding cake. As for the rings, the Platinum Guild of America had rings on display for the bride and groom to pick.
Friday, former Mayor of New York City Rudolph Giuliani officiated the ceremony and Jeffrey Osborne sang for the newlyweds "The Rest of Our Lives" from his new CD, "Music is Life." The bridal brunch took take place at the Four Seasons Hotel.
