The Cool Accessories
An Algerian sleeps in the shade provided by rows of election posters Thursday May 10, 2012, in the capital Algiers on the day of parliamentary elections. Parliamentary elections in Algeria are being billed as the fairest in 20 years, but as polls opened Thursday disgruntled Algerians appeared to be showing little interest and even outright scorn for the vote. Accessories are the best way to incorporate new trends into your wardrobe. But do you really have to spend a lot of money on the summer's hottest accessories, especially if they will be hot just for the moment?
Suze Yalof Schwartz says no. She is the executive fashion editor at Glamour magazine.
She visits The Early Show to put the anchors to the test. Can you really tell which item is a steal and which is the splurge?
The following are the items featured on The Early Show:
Chandelier diamond earrings
M. Fabrikant: $5800.00
Ben Amun: $200.00
This is the earring of the moment and it has been for a little while - it's called the "chandelier" earring. The new earring is a mix of diamonds and pearls - these will make any black dress elegant.
The M. Fabrikant earrings is a mix of the finest diamonds and pearls, which makes them a fortune!
Double strap watches
Hermes: $1380.00
Tommy Hilfiger: $75.00
Watches with one strap will no longer do; for this season, you need two.
It's a classic watch with a twist.
The Hermes watches are pricier because they are handmade and the timing is very precise.
Square sunglasses
Prada: $210.00
Liz Claiborne: $32.00
The new trend in sunglasses is rimless lenses. The shape of the season is square.
The Prada sunglasses are more expensive because the lenses have a higher degree of UV ray protection.
Satin clutches
Philip Treacy: $670.00
Franchi clutch: $85.00
The new clutch is either hardware or corset inspired with lacing.
Philip Treacy's clutch is made out of a higher quality satin and the construction of it is better because of the sturdy hardware.
Bright shoes
Stuart Weitzman: $200.00
Colin Stuart: $49.00
Biggest summer trend in shoes is eye-popping brights.
Perfect to wear with an all-white or tan outfit.
The Stuart Weitzman shoes are more costly because the leather is higher quality and the instep is suede.
Ribbon shoes
Prada: $420.00
Steve Madden: $79.95
Ribbons can either be preppy or elegant - these shoes are really elegant.
Give your feet a present.
The Prada sandals have a high quality velvet heel and a more durable construction.
Metallic shoes
Dolce and Gabbana: $445.00
Charles David: $155.00
Metallic is the new neutral. These shoes answer the age-old question of what shoes to wear with a colored dress. Shoes that lace up the legs are a must-have, too.
The Dolce and Gabbana shoe is more expensive because the craftsmanship overall is much better - the heel is stronger and the leather is more durable.
