Foiled Kidnapping In Florida
A would-be kidnapper grabbed a 10-year-old girl on her way to school, and passersby foiled the attempted abduction by trying to block his car and yelling for help.
The girl, whom police did not identify, said the man pulled into a driveway Thursday, got out of the car and began cursing and demanding that she get in.
"He forced me into his car. I was like, hitting and kicking him," the girl said.
The woman, whose name was also withheld, said she had just dropped her children off at school and was returning home when she noticed the girl kicking and screaming.
"I saw what was happening and I just went crazy," she said. "I jumped out (of the car) and was running."
As others tried to block the man's car from leaving, he threw the girl out of the car and drove away.
"If the people hadn't have intervened, he would have gotten away with her," said sheriff's Sgt. R.C. McKenney.
The girl was treated at a hospital for scrapes and abrasions.
Authorities were looking for a man in his 20s driving a gold Toyota Camry with a broken left headlight and a dent in the passenger door.
