Two More Contestants Make It To The Semi-FInals

(CBS)  Another set of "Star Search" competitors made it to the semi-finals Wednesday night. Horace "H.B." Sanders got the top score in the comedy category and, in the adult singer category, Jennifer Slate-Lee got top scores from all four judges with her version of "It's My Time."

Early Show Co-Anchor Julie Chen spoke to them Thursday morning. "Star Search" is telecast live from Los Angeles, so Sanders and Slate-Lee took the red-eye flight to New York and just made it to The Early Show's New York studio on time for their interview.

Slate-Lee actually cut her honeymoon short to appear on "Star Search," but she says her husband is supportive, and both are excited about her advancement to the semi-finals.

Slate-Lee, who is 22, has been singing since she was 7 years, and would like nothing better than to have a career as an entertainer. But was she nervous Wednesday night going into her winning performance?

"Yes," she says emphatically. "Oh, gosh... If you're not nervous, then it's not worth going out there. You know. That's what gives you the drive."

As for funnyman Sanders, he says "life" is his co-writer. "I talk about stupid questions. Just whatever is going on," he explains. "And that's my challenge: To find something funny in whatever is going on. That way, you could be able to relate to anybody."

He says he would like to have his own TV show, as well as producing other TV shows and films through his production company.

Two more semi-finalists will be selected on "Star Search" Friday, March 7, on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. Central.
