It's Hip To Be Pink

Here are the hot trends Hibberd examines for spring.
My desk was so loaded with all things hip and groovy that I had to do some spring cleaning.
If you've watched The Early Show for a while, you know that the HIB Report used to be the HIB List. Well, I'm going back to my roots and back to the list — starting at the bottom.
Remember when the only people who wore Birkenstocks were hippies and granola eaters? Now, the sandal of the '60s has taken a giant step into the millennium with new styles, new colors and a whole new attitude.
"Our designers have always wanted to be on the edge of fashion with our designs," says Birkenstock's spokesperson Sally Combs. "With the colors, with the different designs all within the Birkenstock brand."
But one thing they haven't changed is their trademark comfort. It is perfect for leading a march or leading the rave.
The next hip trend is the color pink. Not since the movie "Grease" has the color pink been so popular — pale, baby and even hot pinks. What's got everyone so excited?
"I think its just harkening back to a time of fresh innocence, fun — making you feel certainly more fun in your life," says style expert Alison Deyette. "So I think it's more of a lifestyle change and having fun."
The changes for fun has been reflected in clothes, bags, jewelry and home appliances that are in the pink.
Speaking of lifestyle changes, let's admit that healthy eating is tough. Even if you manage to avoid the fast food restaurants, it's always hard to know what are the good things to eat. However, it would be easy to eat healthy if you had a food trainer. But don't fret, it won't cost you another salary to have one.
You may call it the must-have accessory for the diet conscious. The FoodTrainers is a credit-card-sized cheat sheet that gives you the skinny on the best of the bad eats, including sweets and takeout food. It even gives post-pregnancy eating tips.
"I think people are overwhelmed a little," says FoodTrainers.net's Lauren Slayton. "The idea now is that the table is constantly turning. Is it protein? Is it carbs? What are we supposed to do? So we take specific food areas and make it really simple."
If you want even more information, the Food Trainer's Web site will give you calorie counts and how much cardio you need to work it off.
