Attkisson joined CBS News as a co-anchor of its overnight broadcast, Up To The Minute, in September 1993. That year, she anchored CBS News' special week-long coverage from Houston's Johnson Space Center of the space shuttle mission to repair the Hubble telescope, including a six-and-a-half-hour live broadcast the night of the first space walk (Dec. 4). Attkisson served on the University's Journalism College Advisory Board (1993-97) and was chairman in 1996. She co-authored "Writing Right for Broadcast and Internet News" (Allyn & Bacon, 2003), a textbook currently used by many college journalism programs.

Attkisson was born in Sarasota, Fla. She was graduated from the University of Florida in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. Attkisson is a third-degree black belt in TaeKwonDo.

Ms Attkisson:

You must be very proud to be receiving the Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media award from the climate-denialists and conspiracy theory hacks at AIM. That's a mark of a great journalist, one who can promote discredited conspiracy theories, from the comfort of a six-figure income, and still be allowed to appear on television.

You are a laughingstock.

For the article/story "CBS investigates tax dollars for energy projects", why didn't you investigate the relationship of congressmen talking to the Energy Department, to see if this was a classic case of pork barrel? Those "failed" companies where chosen for a reason. My guess would be a congressman was trying to bring money to their state. Or dealing with a "payback".

Even though Fast and Furious made it possible for Mexican Drug Cartels to buy US guns - there was no reason for them to do so. A semi auto AK-47 in the US is $400, a full auto black market AK in Mexico is $75.

In order to get the cartels to purchase US weapons the government had to subsidize their purchase. As always in a scandal: Follow the money - one place to start is page 16 of the stimulus bill, $10,000,000 to the ATF.

Sharyll,

This morning I watched your story about Fast and Furious on The Early Show just after 8:00 am. It now looks as though you have been warned to "get your mind right". How disappointing.

Sharyl. Thank you for your reporting on the F&F debacle. I'm hopeful your next expose will be how liberal news networks stifle any reporting that might put liberals in a bad light and how they punish those who manage to get through their filters.

Sharyl, it is so refreshing to actually see a major network reporter actually doing true investigative reporting, despite the enormous pressure to do otherwise. Because of you, CBS has come up a notch in my estimation. THANK YOU for not being simply another tool of the Washington administration; thank you for taking truth-seeking, objective journalism seriously. You are a rarity!

I haven't watched CBS since Dan Rather showed us how utterly devoid of morals they are, but I am following the Fast and Furious story and I'm amazed that Sharyl is still employed there. I'm sure she won't be for long.
DIE CBS. You deserve it!

Signed up here (something I very rarely do) specifically to offer you thanks and support for your reporting on the Fast and Furious story. It seems many forces are trying to bury or at least minimize this story and so it is in this vein I send this note of support. Please keep your investigative journalistic wits about you as you move forward here but please do continue to uncover the facts. I'm not a big fan of the MSM in general so it is refreshing to see a journalist of your national stature digging for the truth. Keep up the good work!

Keep up the good work Sharyl. I see that you are still active on Twitter and have not given up. We know that there are forces working against you. America is depending on you.
