Meet Your Mate On A Blind Date

Throughout the week, The Early Show talked to couples that found true love — some passively and others who were a little more aggressive.

The third segment of "Meet Your Mate" introduced a couple that began their romance on a blind date but ended with eyes for each other.

To most people, Yankee stadium in New York holds a lot of baseball tradition, but it was a field of dreams for Chris Ward and Lisa Sama.

"I ran into one of my favorite teachers from high school," said Sama. "We started talking and as she was leaving, I said, 'By the way, if you know any single guys over 35, let me know. I'm looking for a good guy who's ready to settle down.'"

Her former teacher, Betsy Groat, happened to know 38-year-old Chris Ward was also on the market.

"When I set them up on a date, marriage was the furthest thing from my mind," said Groat. "They are two people that really were looking to find somebody that they could have fun with and I thought that they'd be a good match that way. I saw her on a Wednesday, Chris called me on a Thursday and on Friday night they were at Yankee stadium."

Ward and Sama made it clear to those who knew them that they were available and looking for the right person. So, when most might be unwilling to go on a blind date, they agreed to it.

"If it's a person that knows the both of you, I think it's a recipe for something good to happen," said Ward. "I mean, at least it's going to be a good date and that whatever else happens is icing on the cake."

The date was more than good and led to other meetings. They eventually got engaged last December at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York.

"I couldn't be happier," said Groat. "My dreams have all come true."
