The Dixie Chicks On The Plaza

(CBS)  The Dixie Chick brought a little bluegrass to the city when they performed selected singles from their new CD, "Home," their first since settling their label dispute with Sony, on the Plaza.

The group sang "Long Time Gone," "Landslide," "Cowboy Take Me Away," and "White Trash Wedding."

The Early Show's summer concert series opened in June when singer, songwriter and nine-time Grammy winner Al Green sang a medley of his hits. On tour this summer, Green took part in a concert tied to the Mike Tyson/Lenox Lewis fight in Memphis, Tenn., and he was at the New Orleans Essence Music Festival on July 6.

Teen pop star Aaron Carter joined forces with his Backstreet Boy big brother Nick and visited the Plaza as well. They previewed their three upcoming concerts by performing a duet they recorded on Aaron's current "Oh Aaron" CD.

And Grammy award-winning singer Marc Anthony sang two songs from his second English-language CD called "Mended." The new album features a mix of love songs and dance tracks, each influenced with his unique salsa style. He sang "I've Got You," and "I Need You" - and two songs - "You Sang To Me" and "I Need To Know" - from his first CD.

Operatic tenor Andrea Bocelli stopped by while on tour promoting his pop CD, "Cieli Di Toscana." Bocelli says while he loves classical music, he's now very much enjoying recording pop music. He sang "Mille Lune," "L'Incontro," and "Il Mistero Dell' Amore." "Cieli Di Toscana" is Bocelli's first pop recording since 1999s smash "Sogno." In November, he has a new CD coming out called, Sentimento.

The Baha Men graced the plaza's stage and sang their trademark song “Who Let the Dogs Out?” and their new hit "Move It Like This." Two summers ago, when The Baha Men asked the question, “Who let the dogs out?” the answer came back in the form of a Grammy award-winning hit single and an album that sold over seven million copies worldwide. This summer, they're back with a new CD and a new hit single that's creating a stir.

Fifteen-year-old teen rapper Bow Wow drops the 'Lil' from his name as he goes big time. He has a starring role in the film "Like Mike" and is featured on its soundtrack. He played a medley of songs including "Basketball" and "Take Ya Home."

This year the Grammy award winning rock group Chicago is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Hit singles like, “If You Leave Me Now,” “Hard Habit to Break,” and “You're the Inspiration” have kept Chicago returning to the top of the charts and have led to record sales of 120 million. This summer, they're marking their anniversary milestone by releasing their greatest hits “The Very Best of Chicago: Only the Beginning.”

The four-time Grammy winners, Boyz II Men, is spending much of this summer promoting the new CD ”Full Circle.” The group packed the Plaza at The Early Show's Summer Concert Series. They sang "The Color Of Love," "Relax Your Mind" and other hits.

The nine-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Bonnie Raitt, will spend the rest of the summer touring as part of her promotion of her new CD, “Silver Lining.”

She dropped by The Early Show to give viewers a listen to her new single, "I Can't Help You Now." Raitt will be co-headlining her tour with Lyle Lovett, It started in Birmingham, Ala., and finishes up on Sept. 22 in Los Angeles, Calif.

Young artists, Monica and Mario, performed soulfully on the Plaza making a scorching day hotter. Their mentor and boss, Clive Davis, accompanied both J Record artists at the performance to promote their new CDs. Monica sang “All Eyez On Me" and "Breaks My Heart.” The teen-ager Mario sang the dance hit "Just A Friend" to an exuberant crowd.
