(CBS)  A Christian school that expelled a kindergartner because her mother worked as a stripper has decided to allow the girl to return to school for the remaining three weeks of classes.

Capital Christian School expelled the 5-year-old last week after discovering her mother, Christina Silvas, 24, worked at Gold Club Centerfolds, reports CBS Affiliate KOVR in Sacramento.

Silvas has agreed to stop working as a nude dancer for at least the next three weeks so her daughter can graduate from kindergarten. Silvas said she will explore several job offers made by local businesses after her plight became national news.

The school is part of the Capital Christian Center, which at 4,000 members is one of the largest Assemblies of God churches in the country.

Upon enrolling their children at the adjacent school, parents sign a document stating they agree with the church's "Christian Commitment/Philosophy," which requires weekly church attendance and stipulates "a Christian learning structure that involves the entire family."

By working as a nude dancer, Silvas broke that agreement, said the Rev. Rick Cole, pastor of the Sacramento church.

Cole said he is satisfied with the agreement, but Silvas hasn't ruled out returning to exotic dancing if none of the job offers work out.

She has ruled out having her daughter return to the school to attend first grade.

"I disagree with the way they've handled the situation," Silvas said. "I want to find a school less concerned with image and more concerned with the welfare of children."
