(CBS) The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas has the requisite flash and dash, with elaborate fountains and a busy casino. But, just beyond the dancing waters and the slot machines, you’ll find a different kind of show: Steve Martin – not on stage, but on exhibit.

At the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (yes, that’s right, fine art in Las Vegas), Martin’s art collection is on display. It's the first time the actor has ever publicly shared his personal collection.

It's a relief from show business," he says. "It’s very personal, and it's very private, and it’s something you do with a small group of friends – up until now.”

Of the Bellagio itself, Martin says, "It’s a beautiful venue. And it’s a real contrast to the jazzy feeling of Vegas."

When you go to see the exhibit, you can be guided through the art by Martin himself, who has recorded an audio tour on CD. But don't expect him to kid around. Here, this wild and crazy guy turns downright serious.

The show includes works by Picasso, Edward Hopper, Roy Lichtenstein and David Hockney, among others. So, if you’re looking for fine art in Vegas, odds are you’ll find something to savor in Steve Martin’s collection at the Bellagio.
