Rookie Marty Reasoner is making his mark with the St. Louis Blues.

Reasoner scored his seventh goal to start the Blues to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.

"I'm just trying to fit in and not be disruptive to the team," Reasoner said. "I didn't come here with any real personal goals, I just wanted to play where I could help the most."

Reasoner said he didn't see himself as an impact player when he was recalled from the minors last month.

"The team was doing real well before I got here," he said. "I just wanted to find out what the best role was for me."

Blues coach Joel Quenneville said Reasoner, a 1996 first-round draft choice has found is niche.

"He picks his spots and plays good fundamentals," Quenneville said. "He matches up with our style of play."

The Blues have won seven of nine while Philadelphia had a five-game winning streak snapped. St. Louis, with 88 points, is tied with New Jersey for the NHL's best record.

St. Louis came off an embarrassing loss to Chicago on Sunday.

"That game was a wakeup call, we had to play better against Philadelphia," said Bob Bassen who scored his first goal in 20 games with the Blues this season.

Acting Flyers coach Craig Ramsey said he was pleased with his team's effort.

"We established that we can come in here and give the St. Louis Blues a real hard time in their own building," he said. "I'm proud of the effort tonight."

Peter White, playing in only his third game of the year for Philadelphia, scored his first goal at 3:06 on a shot from the top of the slot that beat goalie Roman Turek.

Reasoner tied it at 19:19 on a pwer play when he fired a slap shot that eluded John Vanbiesbrouck.

The Blues took a 2-1 lead at 10:02 of the second when Bassen scored.

Vanbiesbrouck blocked a slap shot from the top of the left circle by Al MacInnis, but the puck rolled to Bassen who backhanded it in.

Chris Pronger scored an insurance goal, his 10th, from the top of the right circle at 4:25 of the third when Vanbiesbrouck appeared to be screened.

Valeri Zelepukin cut it to 3-2 at 8:28 when he scored from a pile in front of Turek.

The Flyers were without Eric Lindros, Ulf Samuelsson and Keith Primeau, who are all injured.

Philadelphia, which leads the league in power-play scoring, was shut out in four opportunities. The Blues have killed 25 of the 26 power plays they have faced in six games.

The Blues have won 48 straight when they score at least three times.
