Canucks' Brashear Suspended
Vancouver Canucks forward Donald Brashear was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL Sunday for a check from behind on New York Islanders defenseman Jamie Heward.
Brashear was given a major penalty and a game misconduct after the hit, which occurred early in the third period of Saturday's game. He will lose $6,700 in salary.
"A hit or push from behind is a dangerous act and Mr. Brashear's actions resulted in an injury," NHL director of hockey operations Colin Campbell said.
Brashear was to miss games against the New York Rangers Sunday and Philadelphia Tuesday.
