QUOTE OF THE DAY
The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way.
Bertrand Russell
DID YOU KNOW?
Ever wonder why wet fabric appears darker? When fabric gets wet, light coming towards it refracts within the water, dispersing the light. In addition, the surface of the water causes incoherent light scattering. The combination of these two effects causes less light to reflect to your eyes and makes the wet fabric appear darker.

TONIGHT ON THE CBS EVENING NEWS
Here's a look at what we are working on for tonight's broadcast of The CBS Evening News from Anchor and Managing Editor, Katie Couric:
Hi everyone.
President Obama put the focus on jobs today by gathering local officials, economists, business and labor leaders at the White House to appeal for ideas on what it will take to put more Americans back to work. With double digit unemployment numbers for the first time since the early 1980s, Democratic lawmakers are suggesting a second economic stimulus aimed directly at job creation may be needed. Does the White House agree? CBS News Chief White House correspondent Chip Reid will have that story tonight. For more on this story, Click Here
Also tonight, CBS News National Correspondent Dean Reynolds will report on efforts to re-train Americans to perform jobs in the new economy.
It’s a sobering statistic. About thirty percent of the nation's high school students reported being emotionally, sexually, or physically abused by their boyfriends or girlfriends last year. I'll speak with an 18 year old girl who was routinely beaten and raped by the young man she considered her boyfriend. The new realities and dangers of teen dating, tonight.
See you tonight. Katie
