BRAIN TEASER
A fire engine was rushing to a small fire, 15 miles away. The fire engine set out with 120 gallons of water, however, the water tank had a leak and the fire engine was losing water at the rate of 2 gallons per minute. The fire engine travelled at a constant 30 miles per hour. The fire required 50 gallons of water - did the fire engine have enough water when it arrived?

SOLUTION
Yes: the journey took 30 minutes. In that time the fire engine lost 60 gallons of water - leaving 60 gallons with which to fight the fire.

TONIGHT ON THE CBS EVENING NEWS

Here's a look at what we are working on for tonight's broadcast of The CBS Evening News from Anchor and Managing Editor, Katie Couric:

Hi everyone.

There’s news today that the H1N1 outbreak may be more serious than first thought. The Centers for Disease Control now says H1N1 has sickened 22,000 Americans since April, and nearly 4,000 have died. That’s about four times higher than previous death estimates. CBS News Medical Correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook will have the latest tonight. While people in this country are lining up -- often in vain -- to try to get the vaccine, things are going much more smoothly across the Atlantic Ocean. CBS News Correspondent Sheila MacVicar reports tonight on the British approach to H1N1 vaccinations. For more on this story, Click Here

Do you use the internet at work? If so, your boss may be keeping tabs on what sites you visit, and how much time you spend online. CBS News Science and Technology Correspondent Daniel Sieberg reports tonight about the changing views of internet use in the workplace.

And, we end tonight with the story behind the book and upcoming movie, "The Blind Side." CBS News Correspondent Michelle Miller meets the NFL star, whose unlikely transition from the streets of Memphis to pro football has moved on to the big screen.

See you tonight. Katie

Here's an early look at one of the stories we are working on for Friday night's broadcast of The CBS Evening News: After an accident left her blind, she learned how to row without her sight. Now, she's teaching others about her sport -- and about life. An incredible story of The American Spirit, tomorrow night, only on The CBS Evening News.

In addition to the day’s top news, here's a look at some of the stories we are working on for tomorrow morning's broadcast:

Although her troubles have been well-documented by the paparazzi, we've never really heard Lindsay Lohan talk about her personal life -- until now. Lindsay’s father, Michael Lohan, has released a series of secret recordings from telephone conversations with her. Among the bombshells -- rehab and self-mutilation. Michael will be joining us live Friday morning to talk about his daughter and set the record straight.

Ethan Zohn, winner of the hit CBS reality series Survivor: Africa in 2002, continues his battle in the ultimate test of survival. Months of unexplained itching and night sweats, which he initially thought to be a skin condition, was in fact Stage 2 Hodgkin's disease. Zohn was diagnosed in April and underwent months of chemotherapy, but new cancer growths have appeared since August. Ethan will visit us Friday morning to chat about his condition and what it really means to be a ‘Survivor.’ It’s a heartwarming story that’s sure to inspire the survivor in all of us.

People are always looking for new ways to tone up and spice up an exercise routine, and we’ve found just that. CBS News correspondent Sandra Hughes has discovered an unusual aerobics class in Los Angeles called “Fire Dancing” that's really heating up! There are already thousands of enthusiasts in southern California, and the trend is quickly catching on. Friday morning, Hughes will stop by to show you how it’s done and why it’s become one of the hottest new exercise routines!

In the new blockbuster doomsday movie 2012, Hollywood sweetheart Amanda Peet finds herself running for her life while the world is literally crumbling around her. Join us Friday morning as she stops by our studio with a special preview of the action-disaster film, which is set to hit theatres November 13th. You’ll hear all about what it was like to work alongside legendary actor John Cusack and whether or not she really believes in the 2012 prophecies!

And, last Friday we helped kick off Macy's 2009 “Believe” campaign in an effort to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. At Macy’s stores all across the country, kids of all ages are invited to stop by the Believe station where they can write a letter to Santa and drop it in the special Santa Mailbox. For each letter received, Macys will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation up to $1 million. Executive Vice President of Macy’s Martine Reardon will be joining us Friday morning with a full update on how the program is doing.
