Arkansas Tackles Storm Damage

Residents of Russellville, Arkansas, are cleaning up from recent severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, CBS News This Morning Meteorologist Craig Allen reports.

The storms moved through at a rapid 40 mph Monday. It took only a minute or two for the tornado and straight-line winds to inflict significant damage in the city. About 40 homes were affected.

Residents had no warning of the tornado because radar showed no signs of a tornado or a developing twister, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornadoes continue to move quickly toward the East, while the storms themselves are moving slowly through the Mississippi Valley. They are heading toward the South Carolina and North Carolina coastline.

The showers and thunderstorms will stretch over the Mid-Atlantic coast for the next several days.
