Borbon Signs With Dodgers
5-3 record, 3.42 ERA in 89 big-league games
Left-handed reliever Pedro Borbon, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 1996, agreed Tuesday to a $375,000, one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Borbon, 31, has a 5-3 record in 89 big-league games with a 3.42 ERA and three saves. The Atlanta Braves attempted to assign him outright to the minor leagues after last season and he elected free agency.

Borbon sat out the entire 1997 season while recuperating from reconstructive elbow surgery. He tore a ligament in his left elbow while pitching against Cincinnati on Aug. 22, 1996.
An effective setup man for the Braves in 1995 and 1996, Borbon pitched in the minors for Atlanta last season.
The Dodgers have had a need for left-handed help in the bullpen. Left-handed relievers Scott Radinsky and Mark Guthrie, who pitched for the Dodgers last season, became free agents and signed with other teams.
