Erin Moriarty

Erin Moriarty has been a correspondent for "48 Hours" since 1990. She has covered the death of Princess Diana, the JonBenet Ramsey investigation, the murder of financier Edmund Safra, and the war in Iraq. Before that, Moriarty was the consumer correspondent for "CBS This Morning" (1986-90) and the "CBS Evening News with Dan Rather" in 1990.

Drawing on her training as an attorney, Moriarty has examined some of the most important social and legal issues of the day, including DNA testing of evidence in death-row cases, the abortion controversy and battered women's syndrome. She covered the Oklahoma City bombing, the Columbine High School shootings and the 9/11 investigation, overseas. Her exclusive behind-the-scenes report on the defense of convicted Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh was broadcast on "60 Minutes" in 1997.

Moriarty has received numerous honors, including nine national Emmy Awards, a 2001 Overseas Press Club Award for her work on "48 Hours" and two Association of Women in Radio and Television Gracie Allen Awards for the weekly talk show that she co-hosted with Nancy Giles on WPHT Radio in Philadelphia (2003-04). In both 2000 and 2003, she was honored with the Top 100 Award from Irish America magazine. In 1988, Moriarty received the Outstanding Consumer Media Service Award presented by the Consumer Federation of America for "her many contributions of both local and national significance as a consumer reporter."

Prior to joining CBS News in 1986, she was an award winning consumer reporter for the NBC Owned and Operated WMAQ-TV Chicago (1983-86). She was also a reporter in Columbus (Ohio) at the NBC affiliate WCMH-TV (1979-80), Baltimore at the CBS affiliate WJZ-TV (1980-82) and Cleveland at CBS affiliate WJKW-TV (1982-83).

Moriarty was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She was graduated from Ohio State University, Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in behavioral sciences and received a law degree from the university in 1977. Moriarty is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Maryland.

Hi Erin,
I was reviewing some of the full episodes of 48 Hours Mystery this morning and came across your 09-11-10 Innocence Lost episode, which was one that I had not seen before. I am 56 years old and still shocked by the brutal behaivor of human beings. For the families of the four murdered young girls, the original investigating detectives and yourself, I hope the complete thruth of what happened to those young girls and who was responsible, becomes known soon. If the four men originally arrested and the two originally convicted are responsible, they must be held accountable. If not, there is at least one really evil individual that needs to be caught. Hopefully the DNA recovered will lead to the justice the four girls and their families deserve.

Erin Moriarty and CBS are now on the Run!

I posted several comments on the Tausah Fields case and CBS has opted out by deleting the entire episode that included my posting.

Why you may ask? Because I'm on to them and their conspiracy, their abuse of influence by media and their agenda for personal gain and fame.

This is a clear indication that CBS & Erin do not want my message to be heard because they conspired with the prosecuting attorney to get a guilty verdict against Tausha.

Cowards is what they are and I can prove it by making one challenge to them. All they have to do is to prove that they are not cowards is to reinstate all my posting.

Erin you disgust me, one of these days the truth will be revealed and Tausha Fields will be released from prison.

I'm sure I speak for many when I say welcome back Erin & great reporting! I just saw a Dateline program that needs your detective skills. The death of college student Ira Yarmolenko. There is a NC fishermen serving life & his friend who died before going to trial. My heart is broken for her family but also an innocent man has lost his. Please help these people. I would if I could but do not know where to start? Best of luck in many more years of great reporting.
Many blessings to the families of the dead girls. I hope they catch the sick freak who thinks he is judge in jury. I'm sure he'll rot in hell but hopefully will be caught & do some rotting in jail!

I love Mr. Ingles and I hope he writes a book an gets filty rich! Does he want to come to Oklahoma? I know a man 12 years in prison and he is innocent.Parole board voted 5-0 in favor but dirty system did not free him!! Best of everything for Lisker!!!!!

I WISH i had Erin Moriarty and Paul on my side in San Bernardino county, Sheriff and Rancho Cucamonga superior courts ,The DA'S office and the Lying Probation officer WOW what a crooked court system. I know how Bruce Lisker feels after trying to get the courts to even listen and get shut down on every petition that's go's in front of the same judges that know each other,Its a big game to all the judges in Rancho Cucamonga CA Its called cover your a#s

i live in texas the police are the same way here i think since we are so far away from austin they think they can get away with anything. God be whith every person who is falselly acused.

I just want to say that I am very happy for Bruce to be be free. I am a mother who had a son go to prison for 5 years from a false accusation(SP) But I had no money to get help. so he had to sit. Our city was once mention on Johnny Carson show years ago, He said" If you want to get away with ..... to Marinette wi." HOW TRUE THAT IS...tHE POLICE DEPT. IS A FARCE HERE. The police do stupid things and then they expect the children to look up to them...how can they when they do things like this to Bruce...
