Stickup-Related Sites

You won't find any how-to guides here, but the web does have a lot of information on bank robbery. Below are a few of most interesting.

Out Of Sight: This is the site for the latest in a long line of Hollywood bank robber movies. Based on a book by Elmore Leonard this movie is probably the only bank robber flick that features a bank job done without a weapon. But remember: not all bank robbers are as charming and suave as George Clooney.

The Brink's Robbery: The FBI's site includes a detailed version of the famous Brink's robbery that netted bandits almost $3 million. As you might expect, the story ends with the FBI cracking the case. Its site also includes stories about John Dillinger and Bonnie and Clyde.

Jesse James: This site gives a good introduction to the original American folk-hero bank robber.

The Armed Robbery Page: This oddly named site is the creation of a former police detective who now helps high-risk businesses like banks minimize the danger of robbery. Here you'll find information on how to be a good witness, how to create a more secure bank, and how to deal with an armed robber.

The Crime Statistics Page: This site is a clearing house for statistical information on crime available on the web. There's a helpful guide to getting criminal statistics that aren't on the Web.

How Not To Rob a Bank: After all those statistics, you may need a little levity. This is a list of hapless bank robbers and their laughable mistakes.
