El Niño's Impact

(CBS)  Floods on the West Coast, a listless hurricane season on the East Coast, severe rain in South America. What's to blame? El Niño, of course. The Pacific phenomenon, consisting of a giant upwelling of warm water, has changed the weather worldwide.

Early this fall, Dan Rather began a special El Niño watch; in this continuing and timely series, each Friday a CBS correspondent focuses on a different part of the story. While the impact on America - especially the West Coast - has been huge, its effect has been global.
