Flip Flop?

What do you do when you finish third in the first test of the campaign? You go after the new frontrunner.

Here, the Clinton camp tries to label Barack Obama as a flip-flopper by posting two videos -- one from 2003, the other from 2007 -- in which he states different positions on single payer healthcare. A little thin, plus the 2007 clip affirms what's appealing about Obama.

RoboHeckler

It’s getting pretty weird out there on the campaign trail. As Bill Clinton spoke yesterday at the University of Iowa, he was heckled by some dude dressed as a robot.

Filing Day

Hillary Clinton visited a diner and then filed for the New Hampshire Primary. Supporters cheered. She shook hands. She signed autographs. She made a speech. She went to a coffee shop. An older voter said Hillary has charisma and is sincere. Hillary posed for pictures. She made small talk with a dentist.

Sound Bite: “Denistry is not just about your mouth. It’s about your whole body.”

More “Piling On” (cont.)

John Edwards is like a pit bull with a big old bone. Wait -- scratch that. He’s more like a small fox terrier gnawing on a pantsuited ankle. The nips just keep on coming.

More “Piling On”

Looks like the Edwards campaign has decided “piling on” Hillary Clinton is a whole lot of fun. They’ve released a clip titled “Oops, our bad” where they say they “did find one Yes or No question Senator Clinton has answered.” The question: “Will you continue to take money from lobbyists?” The answer: “Yes I will. I will. Because, you know, a lot of those lobbyists, whether you like or not, represent real Americans. They actually do.”

Hillary Hoe-Down

The Clinton campaign gives us scenes from Hillary's campaigning in New Hampshire that's just slick enough and just rough enough. Watch her in a barn meeting and a house party and a speech/discussion about college costs and see a few and not too many adoring fans.

Sound bite: "We should have a barn dance."

Clinton Ad: “Trapdoor”

In a new ad aimed at middle-class voters, Hillary Clinton says “we have to change course on the economy.” (Translation: More government programs for y'all.)

Sound Bite: “The Bush economy is like a trapdoor. Too many families are one pink slip, one missed mortgage payment, one medical diagnosis away from falling through and losing everything."

It Takes a Village . . .

Speaking at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's Presidential Forum, Hillary Clinton says the reason one-half of Latino children drop out of school is because the government isn't doing enough for them and their families. As President, she says she'll have a whole lot of programs to change all that.

Sound Bite: “I’m setting a goal of cutting the Latino dropout rate in half. I’ll achieve that by supporting our children and their families from the day they’re born. We need to reach into families, work with parents.”

Clinton Ad: “Stand By Us”

A new ad running in New Hampshire and Iowa positions Hillary Clinton as THE healthcare candidate: healthcare for kids, for Ground Zero workers, for National Guard and Reserves, for everyone.

Sound Bite: “So now that almost every candidate standing up for healthcare for all, which one do you think will never back down?”
