Obama to Attend Climate Change Summit

CBS News has confirmed that President Obama will attend the United Nations climate change summit next month in Copenhagen, according to senior administration officials.

Mr. Obama will be in Denmark on December 9 for the summit, which is expected to have at least 65 world leaders, according to the Associated Press. It was unknown until now whether Mr. Obama would attend the meeting, which is designed to create a new global treaty on climate change.

The president's visit to Copenhagen comes just before he heads to Oslo, Norway, to accept the Nobel Peace Prize the following day.

Jennifer Hudson to Perform at State Dinner

CBS News has confirmed that Jennifer Hudson will perform at the State Dinner that President Obama is hosting tonight in honor of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Hudson rose to fame on "American Idol" in 2004, but is also known for her role in the movie "Dreamgirls" in 2006 -- which led to her winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

She previously sang the national anthem at the Democratic National Convention in Denver last year. Like the Obamas, the 28-year-old is from Chicago.

The dinner is scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. ET in a large tent on the South Lawn of the White House.

The first lady's office has released the full list of performers, in addition to Hudson:

• Critically-acclaimed jazz vocalist Kurt Elling. The Chicago-based singer is an eight-time Grammy nominee.

• A.R. Rahman. The Indian film composer has won numerous awards for his music, including two Academy Awards for his score of the movie Slumdog Millionaire.

• National Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Marvin Hamlisch. One of the country's top composers, Hamlisch has been awarded an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, a Tony, a Pulitzer Prize and a Golden Globe.

• U.S. Marine Corps Band, the oldest professional musical organization in the United States.

In the morning, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will welcome Prime Minister Singh of India and Mrs. Kaur to the White House in an East Room ceremony.

The president and the prime minister will then meet in the Oval Office. They will then hold an expanded bilateral meeting in the Oval Office. Following the meeting, they will hold a joint news conference in the East Room.

In the afternoon, Mr. Obama will hold separate meetings with his senior advisers, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Secretary of Defense Gates and the Vice President in the Oval Office.

In the evening, the president and first lady will greet Prime Minister Singh and Mrs. Kaur on their arrival for the State Dinner. The president and first lady will host a State Dinner in honor of Prime Minister Singh and Mrs. Kaur on the South Lawn.

Obama to Hold Afghanistan Strategy Session Tonight

The White House has announced that President Obama will hold another meeting with his so-called "war council" tonight to discuss the administration's long-awaited decision on strategy and U.S. troop strength in Afghanistan. According to CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, this will be the president's ninth such meeting to review Afghanistan and Pakistan policy.

The meeting with the national security team will take place at 8 p.m. ET in the Situation Room of the White House. Below is the list of expected attendees in addition to President Obama, according to the White House:

President Obama's Schedule (11/18-19/09)

President Obama is in Korea where his Thursday will begin on Wednesday night in the U.S. On Thursday morning in Seoul, he will begin his day by visiting United States Embassy staff and their families.

He then participates in an arrival ceremony at the Blue House, the presidential compound in Northern Seoul. Following the ceremony, the president will meet with President Lee Myung-bak of South Korea. In the afternoon, the leaders will hold a joint press conference at the Blue House. Following the joint press conference, they will participate in a working lunch.

Mr. Obama will also deliver remarks at event with service members while in South Korea. He then departs Seoul on route back to Washington, with a stopover in Alaska.

President Obama's Schedule Today

On Tuesday morning in China, President Obama will participate in a welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People. He will then hold a bilateral meeting and an expanded bilateral meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao in the Great Hall of the People. Following the meetings, the presidents will deliver joint statements to the press.

In the afternoon, the president will tour the Forbidden City. Upon conclusion of the tour, Mr. Obama will sign the guest book at the Gate of Loyal Obedience.

Later, Mr. Obama will visit United States Embassy employees and their families in the atrium of the U.S. Embassy. He will then hold a bilateral meeting with Chairman Wu Bangguo.

In the evening, Mr. Obama will attend a State Dinner in the Great Hall of the People.

On Thursday morning, President Obama will make a brief statement to the press on the economy in the Diplomatic Reception Room. The president will then depart Washington and travel to Elmendorf Air Force Base near Anchorage, Alaska, where he will meet with service members and deliver remarks.

The president will then depart Elmendorf Air Force Base and travel to Tokyo, Japan. He will arrive at Haneda Airport in Tokyo on Friday afternoon. In the evening, the president and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama will hold a bilateral meeting and an expanded bilateral meeting at the Kantei, the principal workplace of the Prime Minister of Japan. The president and the prime minister will then hold a joint press conference before having dinner.

Mr. Obama will spend the night in Tokyo.
