Obama Radio Spot: "American-Made Motorcycles Like Harleys Don't Matter To John McCain."

Talking Points Memo reports on a new radio ad in Wisconsin from the Obama campaign. (Once again, the campaign did not release word of the spot to the press.)

"Listen to John McCain speaking to motorcycle enthusiasts in Sturgis, South Dakota, on Tuesday," an announcer says in the spot.

The ad then cuts to audio of McCain: "Not long ago a couple of hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I'll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day..."

Then back to the announcer: "But when it comes to his record, American-made motorcycles like Harleys don't matter to John McCain. Back in Washington, McCain opposed the requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles. And he said all buy-American provisions were quote 'disgraceful.' Surprised? You shouldn't be. This is the same John McCain who supported billions in tax breaks for companies who ship American jobs overseas."

"It's time to hear the roar of the strong American economy again -- and stop John McCain from shipping our jobs overseas," the announcer concludes.

As TPM points out, Wisconsin is the home of Harley-Davidson. Listen to the ad here.

More Democratic Squabbling On Wisconsin Airwaves

It's getting ugly in Wisconsin.

We've been following the on-air battle between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in the state. To recap: Clinton launched an ad hitting Obama for not agreeing to debate in Wisconsin. Obama shot back with his own spot accusing Clinton of "the same old politics of phony charges and false attacks."

Now, round three: Clinton has unveiled another debate-related ad in Wisconsin, where voters go to the polls next Tuesday. And this one is even harder on Obama.

"Barack Obama still won't agree to debate in Wisconsin," an announcer says. "Now he's hiding behind false attack ads. Maybe he doesn't want to explain why his health care plan leaves out 15 million people and Hillary's covers everyone."

(Obama maintains that his plan will leave out only about 3 million people, and argues that Clinton's plan lacks clear mandates to ensure truly universal care.)

The ad goes on to hammer Obama for "voting to pass billions in Bush giveaways to the oil companies" and considering raising "the retirement age and cut benefits for social security."

"Why won't Barack Obama debate these differences?," the spot concludes. "Wisconsin deserves better."
