Wonder, Will.i.am To Perform At Invesco Before Obama Speech

There have been reports that the 70,000-plus Democrats who come to Denver’s Invesco Field Thursday to see Barack Obama’s Democratic National Convention acceptance speech would be treated to a performance by none other than Obama-supporter and beloved New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen.

Turns out Springsteen will apparently not be performing Thursday, according to the Obama campaign aide who spoke to Mike Allen.

So who is the headliner? According to Politico’s Ben Smith, it’s none other than Stevie Wonder. CNN’s Rebecca Sinderbrand, meanwhile, reports that Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am will join Wonder and recreate the viral video he produced earlier this year:
The Emmy-winning “Yes We Can” video that spliced together clips of Barack Obama’s New Hampshire primary night speech and set it to music, will be re-created live on stage at Invesco Field in Denver Thursday night before the Illinois senator accepts the Democratic presidential nomination there.
Sinderbrand also reports that Sheryl Crow will take the stage – and that Jennifer Hudson will perform the national anthem.

Barack Obama, Coming To A Jukebox Near You

(AP Photo)
Sure, Ted Kennedy is great. But he's no Scarlett Johansson.

Johansson appears along with John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and others in a song and music video by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas that sets Barack Obama's words to music.

The celebrities speak and sing Obama's words, often along with him, as a guitar strums in the background. The refrain is an Obama slogan: "Yes we can."

The video is likely to appeal to young voters, who tend to favor Obama but traditionally do not vote in large numbers. It was uploaded to YouTube two days ago and has already been viewed nearly 700,000 times.

will.i.am told ABC News on Friday that the speech was inspired by Obama's speech after the New Hampshire primary.

"It made me reflect on the freedoms I have, going to school where I went to school, and the people that came before Obama like Martin Luther King, presidents like Abraham Lincoln," he said.
