With A Lack of Money, Huckabee Uses Informal Means to Build Support

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

AUBURN HILLS, MICH. -– Mike Huckabee has no official campaign office in Michigan, no paid staffers who’ve been here for months on the ground, only volunteers. His ad buy here is still dwarfed by Mitt Romney’s singular, crushing devotion of money and resources to the state. So, visiting conservative areas with large evangelical communities, Huckabee is using the little time he has to actively court leadership within informal religious networks, the same kind that fueled his win in the Iowa caucus.

More Religion Questions for Huckabee

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN DIKE AND WATERLOO, IA – Mike Huckabee spent about 20 minutes with reporters on the “Huck-a-Bus” fielding questions, many of which dealt with religion.

“It’s not like [I’m] stepping from the pulpit last Sunday and running for president,” said Huckabee when asked if people should be afraid he would impose his religion on the American public if elected president.

Romney: Don't Stop Believin'

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

McCain: Suprised by Focus on Candidates' Religion

(CBS)
From CBS News' Dante Higgins:

WAUKEE, IOWA -- John McCain reacted to Mike Huckabee's comment to the New York Times where he wondered aloud if Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers.

“There is a lot of talk about this and I also think the Bible also says judge not lest you be judged," said McCain. "I believe people are going to select the president on the basis of character, integrity and vision.”

"On the religious issue I continue to be a little surprised that there’s not more focus on more of the issues like health care, education you know the bread and butter issues that people are more concerned about, “ he said.

“All I can say, that if a month ago you would have said Governor Huckabee is in the lead in Iowa I would have said WOW, that’s surprising," McCain added.

"And I think a month from now, 22 days from now you’re going to see some more suprises because this whole cycle is accelerating rather dramatically.”
