Palin Again Says She Wants To Campaign In Michigan

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo.) In Colorado for a morning fundraiser, Sarah Palin dropped by a diner and said she wanted to head back on the stump in Michigan, even though the McCain campaign has essentially given up on the state, pulling its advertising and staffers.

“Well as I said the other day, I would sure love to get to run to Michigan and make sure that Michigan knows that we haven’t given up there,” Palin said in response to a pool reporter’s question about falling poll numbers in key battleground states. “We care much about Michigan and every other state.”

McCain To Tout Nuclear Power Today

(CBS)

From CBS News’ John Bentley:

(RAPID CITY, S.D.) – "You know how we love to imitate the French," John McCain often says in the stump, segueing into his argument for more nuclear power plants because nearly 80 percent of France’s energy is generated by nuclear power, compared with less than 20 percent in the U.S. That’s why McCain will visit a nuclear plant just outside Detroit today to continue his call for alternative energy and for Congress to do something about it.

"I call on Sen. Obama to call on Congress to come back into town and come back to work," McCain said yesterday.

"Come off their vacation and address this energy crisis for America and don’t leave until you do. Republican and Democrat joining together. And a very vital part of that is nuclear power."

Clinton Campaign Offers No Insight On Plans Post-DNC Meeting

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

NEW YORK -- The Clinton campaign today held an hour-long conference call that offered no insight into the campaign’s thoughts moving forward should tomorrow's meeting of the Democratic National Committee’s Rules and Bylaws Committee rule against fully seating the Florida and Michigan delegates at the national convention.

Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson sternly reminded reporters on the call that despite their best efforts to glean a bit of strategic information from the campaign as it looks past the committee's meeting, that they would not discuss it.

“You and others can ask this question in many different ways, but the answer is going to be the same: We are hopeful and expectant that the committee in its wisdom is going to do the right thing,” Wolfson said, almost scolding a reporter on the call.
