Thompson Rails on Debate Format

DES MOINES, IOWA -- At a short press conference after today's Des Moines Register debate, Fred Thompson went off on the "Can I see a show of hands"-type question the moderator asked at one point as well as the format of the debate.

“I just decided I wasn’t going to engage in any of this monkey business that they like to engage in sometimes, making us look like trained monkeys up there reaching for a peanut or something, raising our hands, not raising our hands. Thirty seconds is brief enough, and when they try to reduce your answer to just a hand raise – I ain’t going to play that game.”
