Bill Clinton Responds To Anti-Abortion Rights Activists

(CBS)
From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO -- Bill Clinton was confronted by anti-abortion rights activists at a rally for his wife Hillary in Steubenville, OH last night and the former President did not back down.

A few protesters, standing in the middle of the standing audience in front of the stage, displayed a sign in the middle of the speech reading “Abortion Kills Children.”

President Clinton recognized the sign and decided to address the issue.

President Clinton Campaigns For Hillary - With Many References To Himself

(CBS)
From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

LUBBOCK, TEX. -- For someone who’s supposed to be out stumping for his wife in Texas, former President Bill Clinton sure has been making subtle, yet distinct steps toward plugging his own legacy.

Yesterday, he touted his speeches in front of the Brandenburg Gate and in front of a million people in Ghana. Today in Lubbock, it was his record on Iraq.

Edwards' "Groundhog Day"

(CBS)
From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

TULSA, OKLA. -- Bill Murray was nowhere to be found in the House of Representatives last night. But according to John Edwards, George Bush's State of the Union address looked like one of Murray's movies about repeating the same daily routines over and over again.

Edwards' State of the Union "Prebuttal"

(CBS)
From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

NASHVILLE, TENN. -- John Edwards echoed the same condescension professed earlier today in Chattanooga for President Bush and his upcoming State of the Union address this evening at a local Steelworkers Union rally in Nashville.

Edwards said that Bush's plan to stimulate the nation's economy, a case for which the president is expected to argue in tonight's speech, does not do enough to help those who need it the most.

Edwards' Georgia Drop-by

(CBS)
From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

DUBLIN, GA. -- It was a signature line in South Carolina that John Edwards used to express his commitment to the state even beyond the primary. South Carolina, he said, was more than just a place he'd fly into for an event and then fly back out. That's the state in which he was born, he'd add, and he understands their issues.

More importantly, though, the line was a dig at Hillary Clinton, whom he was quick to point out left South Carolina following the Myrtle Beach debate last week to campaign in February 5th states, only to return to the state the day before the primary.

So whether by force of habit or out of pure sincerity, Edwards used the line again today in Georgia.

Edwards Goes Home Again

From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

SENECA, S.C. -- It was a homecoming night of sorts in Seneca, SC. And John Edwards was king.

Standing in front of an exhuberant crowd of over 400 in the town where he grew up, a visibly energized Edwards came down with a case of deja vu.
