Taliban: “Obama’s Speech Nothing But Deceiving Slogans”

The Taliban’s Shura Council released described Thursday's speech by U.S. President Barack Obama to the Muslim world from Cairo as “a failed attempt to dceive the Muslim world.” They urged Muslims to remain committed to fighting in order to defend their holy sites and their land against "American aggressors."

“Obama failed to send a transparent and honest message to the Muslim nation,” the Internet statement said. “His words were in vain and did not suggest any practical or realistic change to America’s policies hostile to Muslims.”

The Shura Council, headed by Mullah Omar, accused Obama of using recycled and deceiving American slogans that hid the President’s true intentions to continue to kill Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, to publicise the legitimacy of the U.S. aggression in both countries and to deprive Muslims of their first line of defense represented in the Islamist militants. The council also questioned the President’s credibility regarding his remarks on ending U.S. military presence in Muslim countries.

The Taliban also rejected Obama’s talk about Jewish suffering at the hands of the Nazis, while omitting to compare that to all that Palestinians have to endure under the Israeli occupation.

Taliban Video Shows Attack on Military Base in Nuristan

(Neda al Jihad )
The Taliban’s media outlet Neda al Jihad released a new video of attacks carried out by the militant group against a NATO base in the “Zumyobileh-Nuristan area” last year.

The 55-minute video is entitled “Defeat of the Aggressors in Afghanistan” and opens with pictures from previous Taliban videos, including the footage of the attempt to assassinate Afghani President Hamid Karzai during a celebration in Kabul on April 27, 2008 and footage of a 2007 ambush on a joint U.S.-Afghan foot patrol in Nuristan.

The group claims to have intensified its attacks on U.S. forces based in this camp for 47 days until they were forced out. The video shows Taliban fighters, dressed in military uniforms, during their preparation for the operation followed by shots of Taliban fighters trying to shoot a Chinook down. The video also shows the militants firing mortars and engaged in a gun battle against the forces inside the base. Several Taliban fighters look like they were badly injured during the fighting.

A local commander called Osman Jawhari was interviewed on the tape. He claims the militants managed to down two helicopters and kill 95 U.S. troops and only 10 Taliban militants were killed. He also told a group of militants that he was confident they would defeat U.S. troops and force them out of Afghanistan. “We shall fight and defeat them here God willing, then we will chase them all the way to Washington,” he says.

Taliban’s former information minister Mohammed Yasser also makes a short statement to honor the militants who have been killed in the clashes. Yasser had been released along with four other Taliban leaders in exchange for the release of an Italian reporter that the Taliban captured in 2007.

Teen 'Suicide Bombers' Seen in Taliban Video

An increasing number of children and teenagers are appearing in jihadi videos of the militant Afghan Taliban movement, which claims that they carry out suicide attacks. A new propaganda video showing attacks carried out by the group shows two young boys who allegedly carried out two separate suicide attacks in Nangarhar in Western Afghanistan.

The video shows a teen suicide bomber called al Hafidh, who seems to be 15 to 16 years old, sitting in the middle of a group of masked gunmen and reading the Quran, before making his final goodbyes to carry out the attack.

Though the video does not show the actual attack, the group claims that the boy rammed his explosives-laden car into a U.S. convoy in Nangarhar, destroying three armored vehicles, and killing five U.S. soldiers.

The video also includes footage of another young boy, who looks about the same age, and is identified as Ahmad Bilal. The group claims he killed 14 U.S. soldiers in a suicide attack on a convoy in Fathabad, Nangarhar. Again, the video does not show the actual operation, but there are shots of the explosives’ preparation process in which the boy took part.

The video also showed gruesome pictures of an execution of a man accused by the Taliban of collaborating with the U,S, against the militants. The man was identified as Khushhal Omar Umara Khan, from Muhmand Dara, in Nangarhar. According to the group, he was arrested in November 2008.

The man is seen during the before he sits on the groups with his eyes blindfolded. Four masked men who surrounded him then open fire from a short distance. Although the shots did not kill the man, he is left to die.

The 53-minute video also included footage of an IED attack and parts of a UAV shot down by the militants in Sarubi, according to the group.

Taliban Attacks Obama in Online Magazine, Sets Conditions For Negotiations

The militant Afghani Taliban movement accused U.S. President Barack Obama of being "an enemy of Islam" even long before he ran for presidency in 2008, and warned the U.S. president that "God shall punish him if he unjustly attacked oppressed people,” according to an article in the group’s online magazine Somood. The article was written by Ikram Miyundi and appeared in the 36th issue of magazine, which was posted on the Internet today.

Another writer, Shehab Eddin Ghaznawi listed the conditions set by the Taliban to agree a peaceful settlement and negotiations with the U.S. over the Afghan problem in another article entitled “Obama Uses Contradicting Policies To Achieve His Goals.”

The writer said conditions include setting Taliban prisoners free, removing the Taliban and its leaders from the U.S. terrorism list and withdrawing U.S. forces from Afghanistan to allow for the Afghan people to choose their government “with their free will.”

The group reserved a large portion of its magazine to expose what it described as U.S. atrocities against Afghan civilians and once again reassured its people that victory was around the corner, and that the country shall soon be “liberated.”

The magazine also included an interview with the deputy head of Taliban’s military committee in Paktika, Mohammed Basir Saheb Zada, who talked about the situation on the ground in his district and assured that NATO forces are cornered in specific locations in the area.

There were also articles about an increase in suicide rates among U.S. soldiers, U.S. media reports describing Taliban’s propaganda endeavors as being successful and a description of the group’s operations in Khost.

Khalilzad is an Afghan ‘Only By Name’ Says The Taliban

In its first reaction to reports about ex-U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad’s appointment to a key post in the upcoming Afghan administration, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Khalilzad was Afghan “only by name.” Mujahed accused Khalilzad of working as a spy for the CIA for over 40 years.

“We remind our citizens once again, that the elections have already been held in Washington in advance, and they will choose the person who is more committed to implementing Obama’s strategy,” said Mujahed in the interview that was published on the Taliban’s website. He added that Khalilzad was married to a Jewish woman and headed an organization that was hostile to Islam.

Mujahed claimed Khalilzad would be the one with real control over the country, would not need parliament approval for decisions and current Afghan President Hamid Karzai would be reporting to him.

Finally, he called on Afghanis to support the Taliban “in achieving the country's independence and solving problems in a realistic manner.”
