A video tape of a message by the leader of al Qaeda in Afghanistan to supporters in Turkey was posted on a Turkish jihadi blog called "al Tae'fa al Mansoura" (The victorious sect) today. Abul Yazid was heard pleading for financial support in the eight-minute tape of which CBS News acquired a copy of last Tuesday. "If money which enables the mujahideen to buy weapons, food, and other gear for jihad, is not available, how could they perform jihad?" he said in the statement.

The tape was produced by "al Tae’fa al Mansoura" opened with excerpts from previous Bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri video followed by the audio message which was played over a still picture of Abul Yazid and footage from old jihadi videos.

This is the first time that Abul Yazid appears in a non-al Qaeda media outlet production. He has only appeared in media releases that were produced by al Qaeda media wing As Sahab- since he was named leader of the group in Afghanistan in May 2007.

Al Fajr media, another outlet of jihadi propaganda, has distributed the tape on numerous Internet website. But the content of the message, and the way it’s been distributed, raise question over whether it was intended for a public audience, and whether it received the seal of approval from the top al Qaeda leaders.

A large library containing of manuals and studies related to chemical, biological and nuclear weapons has been posted on a number of militant Islamist online forums today. Most of the books are in English and are available in the public domain of the websites. They do not offer recipes for the making of such weapons, but rather general info on their nature, effects, and what actions to take in case of exposure.

Buoyed up the two recent audio messages by the leader of the al Qaeda-led Islamic State in Iraq Abu Omar al Baghdadi, al Qaeda sympathizers posted a new compilation video on jihadi websites today. The 12-minute video shows what the members of these jihadi forums described as the “top 10 martyrdom operations” carried by the Islamic State of Iraq.

A group linked to the “Global Islamic Resistance” called the “Abu Mus’ab al Suri Brigades,” distributed a new seven-page illustrated document that suggested an easy recipe for the making of Napalm.

The recipe says it can me produced using common household items, such as soap and sugar. The manual was distributed on several jihadi Internet forums today along with videos showing the kind of damage this destructive substance can cause.

The Iraqi insurgent group, Ansar al Islam released two IED attack clips. The first one showed an attack on a U.S. tank in southern Baghdad. The second video showed an IED attack on U.S. Humvee in Balad.

A video showing the confessions of al Qaeda commander and former Guantanamo detainee Mohammed al Awfi has been distributed online today. Al Awfi had been featured in another video released by al Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula last January. He was introduced as the group’s military commander and threatened attacks against western interests in Saudi Arabia.

Shortly after the release of his al Qaeda tape, news emerged that the man had turned himself in to the Yemeni authorities which handed him over to their Saudi counterparts. The news struck a blow to the group, and al Qaeda supporters who had still been cheering and hollering over the tape, were left in serious denial.

In his latest 18-minute confessions tape, al Awfi clearly said he regretted what he said in his al Qaeda tape and admitted that he was simply asked to go where the video was filmed, and was given a written statement that he was asked to read it “without any discussions” although there were many things he did not approve of in it.

Al Awfi said that all the militants in Yemen refused to pledge allegiance to Nasser al Weheishy as the leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, but then he was endorsed by al Qaeda's number two Ayman al Zawahri in one of his tapes, so the men felt obliged to take him as their leader. Al Awfi also said that the video released by the group mainly aimed to generate donations from around the Arab world.

The Islamic Army in Iraq posted a short video showing the alleged downing of a U.S. drone in the province of Balad , north of Baghdad.

The Iraqi insurgent group Ansar al Islam posted a video on the Internet showing an Iraqi police patrol coming under fire in Kirkuk .

Meanwhile, the Iraqi insurgent group Jaysh Abu Bakr al Salafi, posted what the group described as an IED attack on a U.S. Logistic Support vehicle.

Al Gurabaa organization distributed a new nine-page illustrated manual for the preparation of Ammonium Nitrate using ammonium, sugar and wood dust.

Meanwhile, a member of the same forum using the alias “Song of Terror” posted an entire library of bomb-making books including “Professional Homemade Cherry Bombs,” “The Manual of Explosives, Military Pyrotechnics and Chemical Warfare Agents,” as well as “Death by Deception,” which is a book with schematics and descriptions for booby-trapped talking teddy bears and toilet paper.

Al Rahman Soldiers Brigades released a video of a number of operations it carried out against “the occupation” in Iraq. The 10-minute tape was posted on militant Islamist websites by the group’s “media office” and includes old and new attacks under the theme of “Thunders and Strikes.”

The group said the aim was “to prove to the world the world the deeds and the credibility of the mujahedeen in respect of the continuity of jihad and to expose the falsehood of the occupiers and their surrogates.”
