Bin Laden’s Audio Focused on Pakistan, Not Obama

Al Qaeda’s leader Osama bin Laden’s latest audio statement, parts of which were aired by the Arab news network al Jazeera on Wednesday, focused on the situation in Pakistan and criticizing the government of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.

The timing of the release of the statement, a day before U.S. President Barack Obama’s much-anticipated speech to Muslims out of Cairo, and Bin Laden’s attacks on Obama in the audio seemed to suggest al Qaeda’s leader’s statement was intended as a pre-reaction to the speech.

(Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan)
Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the suicide attack that killed 30 people on Wednesday in Lahore.

The Internet statement said a member of Tehrik-i-Taliban Penjab in Lahore loaded his truck with 100kg of explosives and drove it into a building belonging to a Pakistani security and intelligence agency building. The statement said the attack comes in response to the military operation launched against the Taliban in the Swat valley.

The group called the attack a “humble gift to the mujahideen who suffer under the strikes of Pakistani forces in Swat valley.”

The group also warned that there will be similar attacks to come. “We call upon all Muslims in Pakistan to stay away from areas where the enemy is present, so that they are not be harmed by jihadi attacks,” said the statement.

Al Libi Issues ‘Fatwa’ Calling on Pakistanis To Overthrow The Regime

Senior al Qaeda leader Abu Yehya al Libi released a new study about the political developments in Pakistan over the past decade. Al Libi concluded that the Pakistani had become part of what he called “the infidel coalition.” “Its army, intelligence and police now constitute the tip of the spear taking part in tearing our Muslim nation apart,” he wrote.

Al Libi thus decreed that it has become a duty on Muslims in Pakistan to fight against the Pakistani forces and work on overthrowing the government and replacing it with a religious authority that establishes the rule of Islam.

Al Libi said removing the current government was a religious duty and argued that it would not be possible except through fighting the army and the intelligence services.

The 30-page study was released by Al Fajr Media and is entitled “The Sharpened Sword To Fight Against The Government and Army of Pakistan.”

Al Libi had issued an appeal to a group of prominent Muslim scholars to issue religious edicts legitimizing “jihad” in Muslim countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia and Eastern Turkistan in a videotape released by As Sahab Media on April 21st.

Leaked Taliban Videos Released By Anti-Taliban Group

A Pakistani anti-Taliban online group released eight videos showing atrocities committed by members of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan group. Islamabad Observer claimed the videos were all new ones that were leaked to them.

Most of the videos showed graphic pictures of beheadings and executions of Pakistani troops and “spies.” The videos were produced by different media outlets.

One of the videos showed a public execution of a man that featured in a Sky News report that was broadcasted last month. Sky News had reported at the time that the tape was handed to them.

Other videos showed a compilation of sniper attacks, which are an unusual method of attack for the Taliban, and a suicide attack carried out by a teenage suicide bomber.

A scroll across the screen on most videos read, “This video is shown only to expose the true face of the militants occupying areas of Pakistan. The videos were made by Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Please help Pakistan get rid of those people. Talibanization is spreading very quickly all over the country. Please support us because if we fall, everyone will fall to them.”

Video Shows Taliban’s Shaheen Commandos Training

short video by Pakistani Taliban posted on a number of militant Islamist Internet forums showed footage from a training camp by Taliban’s Shaheen Commandos.

Shaheen Commandos is the army of Taliban commander Maulana Fazlullah, the son-in-law of TTP leader Maulana Sufi Muhammad. Fazlullah had declared war on the government shortly after the siege and clash with the government at Lal Mosque in July of 2007. The Shaheen Commandos now control the city of Matta in Swat.

This video was produced by an organization called Fateh Studio. It’s about one minute long, but I suspect it’s just asmall bit from a longer video that is yet to be released.
