Tripoli Makes Peace With Libyan Islamic Fighting Group

A member of al Shoura militant Islamist Internet forum going by the name “Muharib” (Warrior) claimed in a message posted today that he’s received information from the “brothers” in Libya that the government is preparing to hold a major event during which reconciliation between the Libyan regime and the Islamic Fighting Group would be announced.

The message, entitled “Bad News From Libya” said that all group members held in Libyan jails would be released during the event.

The leader of the Libyan Islamic Fighting group Abu Abdullah al Sadeq had issued a statement on March 10th in which he praised the son of the Libyan leader Seif al Islam al Gaddafi for his sponsorship of the dialogue that was initiated between the group and the government.

The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group was formed in 1995 by Libyan militants who sought to create an Islamic State in Libya upon their return from Afghanistan where they fought alongside the Taliban against the Soviets. Amongst those were senior al Qaeda leader Abu Yehya al Libi and slain al Qaeda commander Abu Laith al Libi.

In November 2007, al Qaeda announced the integration of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group into al Qaeda. The announcement was made by al Qaeda's second-in-command Ayman al Zawahri and then al Qaeda in Afghanistan commander Abu Laith al Libi in a video tape released by the group on the internet.

Taliban Claims Forming Iraqi-Style Councils to Fight The Militants Won’t Work in Afghanistan

The Taliban released an English statement on its website in which it claimed that the U.S. strategy of forming tribal militias to fight the Islamist militants in Afghanistan was bound to fail. “The U.S. Defense Secretary and the masterminds behind the formation of the tribal militias should know that the tribal militias strategy was never a successful one in Iraq either,” said the statement
The group claimed that people in the tribal areas were increasingly supportive of the militants, making things more difficult for the U.S. “The people of the tribal areas are bonded and infatuated by the spirit of jihad and patriotism,” said the statement. The Taliban also reminded of the Russian forces’ attempts to form militias to fight the militants was a failure.

Shabab Movement Appeals To Foreign Mujahideen To Join The Fight In Somalia

( )

Somalia’s Shabab Mujahideen Movement launched a call to militants from around the world to join their ranks in a new propaganda video posted on the group’s website. The 40-minute tape included footage from a camp where a dozen recruits were given training, in preparation for a new raid that the group has pledged to launch against Ethiopian forces. The recruits appeared to be from different nationalities and made short statements in Arabic, Urdu and English.

“I sincerely advise my beloved brothers and sisters to make Hijra (to migrate)...and come join us to defend the religion of Allah,” a recruit said in English with a pronounced American accent.

The video also included a statement by a masked man identified as “Commander Abu Yucef Saleh al Nabhan,” who may be Saleh Ali Saleh al Nabhan, a Kenyan wanted by the FBI for questioning in connection with the 2002 attacks in Mombasa, Kenya, against a hotel and an airliner.

Al Baghdadi Claims Al Qaeda Is Winning The Fight In Iraq In New Tape

The leader of al Qaeda-led Islamic State of Iraq Abu Omar al-Baghdadi denied in a new audio statement that his group has been defeated in Iraq. According to Baghdadi, it’s his state that is steadily emerging victorious in its fight against the occupation, even if the decisive victory is yet to be achieved. “The main characteristics defining this victory is making God word the supreme, and that his laws would be fully implemented in the lands among the people, and that is what we have under the Islamic State of Iraq, even if the sweeping victory is not there just yet,” al Baghdadi said.

He also denounced many of the Sunni insurgent factions who defected to the allied forces and the Shiites and conspired to kill members of the Islamic State of Iraq. “Come back to us for we never forgot that you were our friends. But if you refuse to repent, by God, killing an apostate is for us better than a hundred Crusades,” al Baghdadi said, in an attempt to talk members of the former Political Council of the Iraqi Resistance into rejoining the ranks of his group.

Al Baghdadi finally extended his thanks to all those who supported the Islamic State of Iraq around the world and specifically to “the smugglers and forgers, the jihadi media officials, and those who are fighting on the ground.”

This is the second audio statement by Baghdadi in less than two weeks. On September 9, he released another statement marking the second anniversary of the creation of the group, where he called on the militants in Iraq to keep up the attacks against occupation forces.

The US military had said that al Baghdadi was a fictitious character but this claim was challenged last May when Haditha's police chief told al Arabiya TV that al Baghdadi was in fact Hamed Dawood Mohammed Khalil al Zawi, a former officer of the Iraqi army.

Post Claims Yemeni President Seeking Hezbollah’s Help To End Rebel Fighting

(Ansar al Haq)
President Saleh sent a message to the Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of the militant Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, urging him to intervene to put an end to the fighting with the rebel Huthi followers in Saada in northern Yemen, according to a report posted on a Yemeni Internet forum by the Yemeni Shiiter group Ansar al Haq. The group also posted several videos that showed aftermath pictures of an airstrike by Yemeni warplanes on a village in Saada. One video showed what the group said were parachute drops of food and supplies for Yemeni forces stranded in the Meran area.

Fatah Al Islam Leader Calls On Sunnis to Fight The ‘Enemies of God’ in New Audio

(Fatah al Islam )
The leader of the militant Islamist Palestinian group Fatah al Islam released a new audio statement in which he attacked the Lebanese government and the militant Shiite Lebanese group Hezbollah. Shaker al Absi’s 18-minute statement, which was addressed to Sunni Lebanese in particular and Muslims in general, contained rhetoric similar to al Qaeda’s, but no new information.

Al Absi attempted to give his version of what happened at Nahr al-Bared refugee camp last summer when Lebanese Army units surrounded and bombed the camp in a bid to eliminate the militant group. Al Absi blamed what happened in Lebanon on “the Zionist-Crusader war waged against Islam,” a sentence often used by al Qaeda figures.

He also lashed out at Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad al Sanioura and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, accusing them of leading the campaign against Sunnis with the help of Christians and the Shiites. “The Crusaders’ global project aims to control the entire region, and so does the Rejectionnist (Shiites,)” he said.

Al Absi also launched a scathing attack on Hezbollah, claiming that the group is executing its own agenda in Lebanon. “The small “Khomeini,” leader of the Devil’s Party, prevented all those who are not under his command from taking part in the July war in order to keep all the credit for fighting the Jews to himself,” Al Absi said in reference to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. “But the people of the refugees camps know perfectly well who tipped the security forces on those who struck against the UNIFIL, who constitute the Crusaders’ security barrier for the Jewish state,” he added.

Al Absi concluded his message by calling on Sunnis to “raise the banner of monotheism,” saying that the time for ‘decisiveness’ has come. “The lions of monotheism will be crushing the enemies of God, whether they’re Christians, Jews, Rejectionnists or apostates,” He also warned that “the IEDs of Iraq and the martyrs’ brigades are never far from the enemies of God wherever they may be.”

Yemen Government-Rebels Fighting Footage Released

(al-Karar for Prod. and Distr.)
A previously unknown online media center called “al-Karar For Production and Distribution,” released footage of fighting between Yemeni Shiite rebels and government forces in the northern Saada province. Fighting between al Houthi rebels and government forces broke up recently in Saada after a period of calm that followed a ceasefire agreement between the two parties in Doha last January. There were unconfirmed reports about the rebels’ leader Abdul Malik al Houthi possibly being killed in fierce fighting on May 25th. The released footage shows a Yemeni army tank set alight, al Houthi fighters driving armored vehicles that seem to have been seized during combat.

Fatah Al Islam Vows to Fight for Sunnis in Lebanon

The militant Lebanese Islamist group Fatah al Islam vowed in a statement released Tuesday not to remain silent in face of what it considered were intentional attacks against Sunnis in Lebanon. “We will defend our people in this country and cut the heads of those who try to make them lower their heads, even if this costs us lives and bloodshed,” says the statement.

The statement attacks the militant Shiite group Hezbullah as well as the Lebanese Future Party, which it accuses of being an “agent of the Americans.” The group argues that the Future Party, which is led by Saad al Hariri, does not represent Lebanese Sunnis and holds it responsible for “killing our brothers and destroying a full refugee camp.”

As for Hezbullah, the statement says claims that the Beirut attacks were in reaction to the governments moves against the group are lies. The statement says the intention is to weaken Sunnis in Lebanon and keep them divided.

The group also refutes claims by former parliament member Nasser Qandil about member of Fatah al Islam blocking roads to the factory. The statement refers to Qandil as the “mouthpiece” of Hezbullah and argues the intent of his statements is to justify an attack against the Sunnis in this area.
