Al Sahab Provides The Wrong Decryption Password To Open Al Qaedaʼs 9/11 Anniversary Video

In an another blow to al Qaedaʼs attempts to release its seventh Sept. 11th anniversary video, the password provided to open the downloaded file by the groupʼs media wing al Sahab did not work. The banner that was posted along with the download links revealed that this yearʼs highlight would be the will of Ahmed Salah al Ghamdi, one of the Saudi Sept. 11 hijackers.

A number of militant Islamist Internet forums had been shut down in the past week, including the number one outlet for al Qaeda tapes the popular al Ekhlaas website, making it difficult for al Sahab to post its a propaganda video, as it had done every year since the Sept. 11 attacks, who was on the United Airline flight 175 which flew into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

Links to download the video were posted on al Hesbah, one of the few forums that are still up, but members were disappointed to find out that the password was not working.

The banner posted with the links also indicates that the tape included statements by al Qaedaʼs second in command, Ayman al Zawahiri, al Qaedaʼs chief in Afghanistan Mostafa Abul Yazid and another senior called Abu Yahya al Libi. There was no sign of Osama bin Laden or American al Qaeda operative Adam Gadahn.

Al Sahab Video Shows Saudis On A Suicide Mission In Khost

(Al Sahab)
A new ten-minute video released by al Qaeda’s media wing al Sahab and obtained by CBS News shows two Saudi militants carrying out a suicide attack on what the group claims is a joint U.S.-Afghani base in Khost in Afghanistan.

The militants, who are identified as Abu Hamza al Makki and Abul Baraa al Hijazi, make short statements to explain why they decided to carry out the attack and call on other Muslims to follow the same path, saying that martyrdom operations have proven to be better than any weapon used against the “infidels.”

The undated video shows a few shots from a reconnaissance video of the attack site, followed by shots of the militants right before they set off on their mission. The plan involved one of them engaging the guards outside the base, while the other rams the vehicle into the building. The first man is then meant to make his way into the base to blow himself up.

The video closes with a wide shot of the explosion followed by pictures showing several U.S. choppers flaying over the base. The narrator claims 30 soldiers were killed in the attack, including a high-ranking officer.

New Al Sahab Video In Honor of Slain Al Qaeda Commander

(Al Sahab)
Al Sahab released a new 45 minute video titled: “Jihad and Martyrdom.” The video chronicles the life of al Qaeda's deputy commander in Afghanistan, Aboul Hassan al-Saeedi (AKA Shaker Allah), from the moment he joined al Qaeda in Afghanistan in the late 80s, till his death in a suicide attack that targeted a U.S. convoy in Afghanistan on June 28, 2007.

The video is clearly aiming to promote the idea of 'martyrdom' as a way to compensate the imbalance of power between the 'Crusaders' and the Muj. "This discrepancy in the military strength which the Crusaders and the jews consider to be their fortified fortress, had to be demolished and defeated by the Mujahideen in order for the enemy to become vulnerable in the field and suffer blows in punishment for his crimes, hence martyrdom operations."

Al-Saeedi appeared dressed in a traditional Afghani dress and turban. He sat before a mud-plastered wall with his machine gun placed next to him, as he answered the questions of his interviwer. He said he fought in Afghanistan, and left with OBL to Sudan after the defeat of the soviets in Afghanistan. He claims he helped train Somali Mujahideens during the U.S. invasion, before returning back to Afghanistan with OBL when the Taliban took power in 1996. "He then played a major role in training the youths arriving in Afghanistan, and he supervised the setting up of al-Farouq camp in Kandahar."

The video described 9/11 attacks as a pre-emptive strike launched by al Qaeda against an American offensive on Afghanistan; "The Zio-Crusader enemy and its agents, the apostate rulers, were making preparations to strike Afghanistan. So the Mujahideen decided to carry out a preemptive strike to shuffle the enemy's cards, hence the two blessed raids which changed the course of history and revived the ummah, the duty of Jihad and the love of Martyrdom."

According to the tape, OBL gave al-Saeedi the responsibility for the Jalalabad front after the U.S. attack on Afghanistan in 2001. Then he made him the deputy head of operations in Afghanistan. At that time, he (al-Saeedi) appeared in an Aljazeera news coverage, daring the American soldiers to come down and fight the Muj in the battlefield, instead of bombing them from their planes.

The video did not include any pictures of the operation, nor did it explain where or when it took place. But it showed al-Saeedi as he helped loading the truck used in the attack with explosives. Some graphic animation, accompanied by a narration from member of al Qaeda shura council, Abu Khalil al-Madani, explained that the U.S. convoy targetted in the attack was composed of 4 humvees, a bulldozer and a large army truck.

In several parts of the video, al-Saeedi received great words of praise from al Qaeda chief in Afghanistan, Mostafa Abul Yazid, as well as from Abu Khalil al-Madani, and an Egyptian commander called Khaled al-Habib.

New Bin Laden Statement Expected Soon

(CBS)
Al Qaeda’s leader Osama bin Laden will issue a new statement on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the creation of Israel, according to a banner posted on a number of websites often used by al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

It is unclear if the new statement will be a video or an audio release. However, the old picture of bin Laden used on the banner may be an indication that it is an audio. Bin Laden is expected to address the Israeli-Palestinian issue, as the statement is entitled “Message to the Western People: The Reasons for the Conflict…On the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Occupier State of Israel.”

As is the case with all of bin Laden’s and Ayman al Zawahri’s statements in recent years, the release was produced by the terror group’s media wing al Sahab.

Al Qaeda officials’ statements are usually posted within one or two days of the announcement.

This will be Bin Laden’s 26th statement since the Sept. 11th attacks, including four videos and 21 audio messages. Bin Laden’s last statement was an audio tape released on March 20th. Al Zawahri’s last statement was a video released on April 22nd.

Al Sahab Releases 2001 Bin Laden Statement With Urdu Translation

Al Qaeda’s so-called “media production company” al Sahab re-released Osama bin Laden’s December 2001 statement with an Urdu translation and posted it on militants Islamist websites this weekend. The 35-minute statement includes new graphics and editing and shows twin images of Bin Laden delivering his statement over video of a waterfall in a jungle. The translation and re-release of the seven-year-old video is clearly a continuation of al Sahab’s propaganda strategy by keeping al Qaeda leaders present on the militant websites, even when they are not making any new tapes.
