In The "Hannah Zone"

It's always lively when Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly stops by our studio, and today was no exception. The super-busy dad, who is also a former teacher, has penned a new book for the younger set called "Kids Are Americans, Too." It's a testament to O'Reilly's popularity that the book debuted at No. 8 on the New York Times Best Sellers list. The big take away is that kids need to know they have the right to believe what they want, form their own opinions and stand up for their principles.

Osteen's Optimism

Today I visited with one of the most inspirational people I know -- Joel Osteen, pastor of the Lakewood Church in Houston. Osteen took over the old Houston Summit a few years ago (that was where we used to cheer on the NBA's Rockets) and he packs the house every Sunday with over 40,000 worshippers of all races and economic and social backgrounds. His reach even extends well beyond our shores to South Korea, Australia and points in between.

Although he has taken some heat for his relentlessly optimistic messages of hope, Osteen has been steadfast in his core belief that all of us, in every religion, are children of God and as such, we deserve happiness and peace.

Read It And Weep

If you have a preteen or teenage daughter and have browsed the bookshelves of your local store lately, you have no doubt seen the less-than-impressive collection of books in the "young adult" section. There are some hugely popular series with such inspiring names as "The It Girl" and "Gossip Girl." The latter has even made into a widely popular TV series as well ... a virtual "Sex in the City" for the younger set. And if you think the show is racy, check out the books, which are chock full of vulgar language, sex, drugs and drinking.

In the books, it's high school kids doing this stuff; in real life, younger kids are reading it.

A Sense of Self…

Today we hit on a topic a lot of women, including myself, can relate to: the crazy, hectic lifestyle of being a mom -- whether you work or not.

Personally, I race from this job back home to a world of homework, soccer, ballet, and many heart-to-heart chats with my three daughters, deconstructing the daily dramas of what happened at school -- not to mention getting dinner on the table and squeezing in a few minutes to have an actual conversation with my husband. Sometimes it seems like a few minutes alone in the shower is the only time I get to myself! Doesn’t this all sound really familiar?

Our two guests today, Heather Reider and Mary Goulet, have a great Web site called MomsTown and have penned a new book entitled "It’s All About You," offering great tips on how to take away some of the stress and replace it with passion... reclaiming a sense of self. I am sure you can relate.
