Grins And Giggles

Hope you all had a great Halloween. My girls were up late chatting away after sampling some of their loot last night, so I was a little tired today! The best memory was seeing my 6-year-old literally skip from house to house. It was so sweet and one of those things you just really love as a parent.

Another one of the very best things is hearing your child laugh. When a baby does it, it's downright hilarious! There are all sorts of giggling babies popping up on the Internet, and today we decided to actually do a segment on them. I could barely read my script, I was laughing so much! And you should see the clip where a mom of multiples is in her bed with all her babies laughing at once. It sounds like a comedy club and took me completely by surprise! I nearly fell over on the air! Click the video link to hear the adorable gigglers.

We are actually encouraging viewers to send in their laughing baby videos, so feel free to submit video of your happy little one.

Momisms Put To Music

As we head into the weekend, it's time for a good laugh. All of us moms can take a deep breath and relax just a little, after another crazy week of school, activities, work, cooking and the thousands of other things we have going on! No wonder so many of us are totally tickled by Atlanta comedienne Anita Renfroe and her hilarious take on what moms say to our kids day after day. Renfroe has set the "momisms" to the tune of the "William Tell Overture" and runs through a bunch of our favorite sayings in doubletime. It's a video that will leave you breathless from laughing. This week I got the chance to get the scoop behind it from Renfroe herself. Click the video link to watch. I hope you all get to kick back a little over the next few days!

Hillary Swank: "I Believe in Miracles"

Believe it or not, a lot of folks have told me through the years that I look like Hilary Swank. I don’t know whether or not you agree, but nonetheless, I’ve always wanted to meet her and this year I got a chance to interview her twice, and spend some time with her. She’s quickly become one of my favorite actresses. One of the things that really strikes me about Hilary is her humility. As you’ll see in this interview, she’s exceedingly grateful for what has happened to her.

Ex-Tennis Star Finds Higher Calling

For many years, I used to travel to London and cover Wimbledon. It's one of my favorite sporting events of all time. That’s where I first met Andrea Jaeger. She a gangly teenager who was beating all women on tour, yet she was lonely and unhappy.

Now, believe it or not, Andrea is a nun! She has committed her life to helping children suffering from cancer and she talks about her commitment to God and others during this interview.

Also on a personal note, she heard that my dad had undergone emergency bypass surgery, and on her own, sent him a book with a beautiful inscription that really meant a lot to him. She’s a very special person.

Kenny Chesney Live

Kenny Chesney is one of my favorite people. We got to be friends after he visited our show at the end of his tour last summer, and surprised me by serenading me out on our plaza in front of a bunch of fans. Kenny is not only the most popular tour performer in North America for the last three years running, he’s also a generous and intelligent guy with a great sense of humor.

Hugh Grant's Romantic Comedy Comeback

I don’t know about you, but I find Hugh Grant to be totally and utterly charming. Not only is he really funny, but he’s incredibly self-deprecating. Whenever I talk to him, I can never get over the fact that he arrives without any sort of entourage, and is totally low maintenance, almost the anti-thesis of a movie star. You’ll see me giggling a lot during this interview. Something I tend to do when I really like the person that I’m talking to, and Hugh Grant is one of my favorites.

Hanging With Ben

Ben Stiller, star of the movie "Night at the Museum," stopped by to chat with me about the very funny film and when we began talking about a particular scene where he got into a fight with a monkey, the interview deteriorated into a laugh fest!

Stiller knew he had a good audience in me, and just kept throwing out the one-liners until I was practically crying with laughter.

For a good giggle, check this out!

Why Have Just One Dessert When You Can Have Many?

For several years now, I’ve had an ongoing series on The Early Show with Williams-Sonoma and cookbook author Tori Ritchie. For our "Five Minute Cooking School" segments, we head over to the flagship store down the street from our studios, and whip up recipes right there while shoppers are watching. Tori’s got a great positive and fun personality and she really makes cooking easy. She loves me because I’m a BIG eater, and doing an all dessert segment is my idea of heaven.

Tony Bennett: Ageless and Timeless

Tony Bennett’s a living legend and it was a thrill to meet him when he stopped by our studio this winter. I found him to be incredibly humble, and genuinely warm, with a real commitment to young people and their dreams.

Tony brought a little sketch pad with him and was drawing amazing pictures while waiting for his interview. We also talk about his lesser known talent of painting in this interview and I have a huge picture of the two of us in my office.

Vets Remembered With Holiday Wreaths

One of the most emotional stories that I have ever done was in December 2006 around Christmas, when I visited Arlington National Cemetery to highlight a program that donates wreaths for the tombs of those buried there.

Many of the people placing wreaths onto the tombs were school children, some of whom had studied the lives of those soldiers they were remembering that day, with a simple evergreen wreath.

This story really touched me, and I actually teared up on set when I was talking about it with Harry afterwards.
