In just six years, R&B sensation Alicia Keys has become one of the most successful names in music, both commercially and critically. She's sold more than 20 million albums and racked up nine Grammy awards. Now, she's back on the scene with her third studio album, "As I Am," and her first single is already a No. 1 hit! Check out these behind-the-scenes photos from her performance on the plaza.

The other day I shared the story of my daughter and in-laws flipping over their canoe in the Deschutes River during our Oregon vacation. Well, it appears this was some sort of family problem! I had a pretty scary whitewater rafting experience as well, on a Class 3 rapids called Big Eddy.

I don't know if you've tried this sport, but its pretty physically demanding and a real rush, especially when you're paddling up front. You're perched on the side of the boat with one foot anchored in a pocket-like thing on the floor of the raft, and you are bearing down, paddling through this roller-coaster-like water — just trying to get through it and stay in the boat.

I can't believe the summer is winding down and it's almost time for school to start. Our summer sure ended in an adventurous way. My family trekked all the way across the country to Oregon and the gorgeous Sun River Resort. Boy was it worth it! It's pretty cool to think that you can always try new things, even in your mid-40s, and that's exactly what we did.

Horseback riding, whitewater rafting (more on that tomorrow) and canoeing up and down the Deschutes River. I've always been a beach person, but absolutely fell in love with the mountains, the sports, and the folks who devote their lives to enjoying the great outdoors. But what we will surely remember this vacation for was the inordinate amount of time we spent in the water instead of navigating it! Check out a few pictures of my canoe-tipping trip with my girls and my in-laws and out two faithful guides! It wasn't exactly a relaxing day, but a funny and precious one at that!

When I was in Dallas recently I got a chance to have dinner with famed restaurant chef Nobu, who has just opened a restaurant there. It was a real treat, and he is an amazing success story with 19 restaurants worldwide. Here are some photos from the amazing dinner.

One of my favorite things about the "Summer in the City" tour is that I get to interact with enthusiastic Early Show fans. Some of our most devoted viewers came out to support us in Raleigh on Friday.

On Friday, we took the Early Show on the road for leg two of our Summer in the City tour -- which means I found myself broadcasting from beautiful downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Though entirely different from our previous stop -- Orlando, Florida -- Raleigh was charming, friendly, and really brought out the welcome wagon. My co-anchor Dave Price and I felt right at home, thanks to our crowd's infectious energy and cheering. I couldn't believe how enthusuiastic they were so early in the morning! I'm sure you could tell we were having a great time -- so much fun, in fact, that I brought along my camera to document the trip. Here's a peek at a few of my favorite snapshots.

When the weather cooperates -- and sometimes when it doesn't -- we enjoy spending time on the plaza during The Early Show. From cooking segments, celebrity interviews, concerts and exercise demonstrations, it's one of my favorite parts of the show.

Hi everyone! I'm getting ready for one of my favorite nights of the year -- the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. This year's show airs Tuesday, May 15 right here on CBS and once again, I'll be one of the presenters.

In March, I was thrilled to announce this year's nominees on The Early Show live from Nashville. After the big news, I got to hang out with two-time ACM Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney and Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush of the country music duo Sugarland.
