NEW YORK - The defense attorney for Nancy Garrido, who allegedly held Jaycee Lee Dugard captive for 18 years while her husband allegedly raped and impregnated her, has been removed from the case.


Court documents show that Gilbert Maines was removed during a closed hearing in El Dorado Superior Court on Thursday. However, Judge Douglas Phimister immediately stayed the decision until another hearing Nov. 30.

NEW YORK - Terrified.

That's what Katie Callaway Hall, the woman Phillip Garrido kidnapped and raped thirty years ago, said she felt as she sat in a California courtroom Thursday and watched Garrido and his wife Nancy Garrido deal with charges of kidnapping, raping and imprisoning another girl, Jaycee Lee Dugard.

"The same old fear came back that I felt 33 years ago," Hall said.

NEW YORK - Jaycee Dugard, two months after resurfacing from 18 years in captivity, has released her first personal statement to People magazine, along with photos of herself as an adult.

"I'm so happy to be back with my family," she told the magazine. "Nothing is more important than the unconditional love and support I have from them."

SAN FRANCISCO - People Magazine has released the first photos of Jaycee Lee Dugard as an adult and the young lady who was held captive for 18 years appears happy, fit, and healthy.

Her image today is a stunning contradiction to the horrors that Jaycee suffered, allegedly at the hands of Phillip and Nancy Garrido, who are accused of kidnapping her when she was 11 years old.

ANTIOCH, Calif. - The investigation into Phillip Garrido, the man accused of kidnapping and raping Jaycee Lee Dugard, has taken another turn.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's office said Friday that bone fragments dug up from the backyard of Garrido's Antioch, Calif., home and a neighboring property probably belonged to Native Americans buried a long time ago.

ANTIOCH, Calif. - Jaycee Dugard says her alleged captor and rapist, Phillip Garrido, did not touch her two daughters, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

"She's saying he didn't touch her kids," one law enforcement source told the Chronicle.

ANTIOCH, Calif. - Is evidence of foul play about to be unearthed in a place already believed to have been a house of horrors for at least one kidnapped child?

Authorities investigating two missing girl cases said Thursday that cadaver dogs picked up a scent in the backyard of Philip and Nancy Garrido that could indicate buried remains on the property of the couple already charged with the kidnapping and rape of Jaycee Dugard.

ANTIOCH, Calif. - Police said Wednesday they found another bone fragment on the property of Phillip and Nancy Garrido, charged with kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard and hiding her in their backyard for 18 years. Other fragments were found on property next door.

Investigators collected the fragments as part of a search for any evidence that might link Phillip and Nancy Garrido to two other child abductions in the 1980s.
