FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Investigators handling the death of Shaniya Davis say they can't file any more charges until they decide where the crimes took place.
Fayetteville police had said they planned to file more charges in Shaniya's death, the 5-year-old North Carolina girl whose body was found Monday beside a rural highway in Lee County.
But Police Chief Tom Bergamine said Wednesday they won't file more charges until jurisdiction is determined.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - When Shaniya Davis, the 5-year-old girl found dead in rural North Carolina, went to live for the first time with her mother, Antoinette Davis, alarm bells went off for the little girl's aunt.
"Antoinette and I never really got along because of the way that she neglected her children," Carey Lockhart-Davis said. "I feel robbed. I feel that Shaniya was robbed."

SANFORD, N.C. - Shaniya Davis' father, Bradley Lockhart, arrived at a vigil for his dead daughter Monday night with help from friends gripping his arms. Tears flowed from his face as he looked up and spoke, barely being able to stand.
"Lord, I come to you with open arms and it is hard. It is hard," Lockhart said as he stood among a crowd of about 500 gathered in a store parking lot. "Don't give up on me and don't give up on Shaniya. She's right there with you."

NEW YORK - Mario Andrette McNeill, 29, has been charged with kidnapping 5-year-old Shaniya Davis, who went missing last week and was found dead Monday in North Carolina.
Authorities said surveillance footage from a Sanford hotel showed him carrying Shaniya there. McNeill admitted taking the girl, police said, though his attorney said he will plead not guilty.

CLEVELAND - As police say they have identified Cleveland mom Tonia Carmichael as the first of at least 11 bodies found in the home of Anthony Sowell, the woman's family is outraged that police didn’t take their cries for help seriously a year ago.
"They told us to go home, and as soon as the drugs are gone, she'll show up," said Markiesha Carmichael-Jacobs, whose 53-year-old mother, Tonia, a drug addict, vanished Nov. 10, 2008. Police identified her Wednesday as one of the victims, saying her body was found buried in the backyard with marks indicating strangulation.

NEW YORK - There was a stench in the neighborhood in Cleveland that folks complained about for months. People said it's that little sausage factory.
But, it wasn’t of course.
The smell was of decomposing human flesh in and outside the house of Anthony Sowell. Authorities have counted ten bodies on the property so far and they’re looking for more.

CLEVELAND - Cleveland police continue to find horrors in the home of Anthony Sowell. In addition to four more bodies found buried in his backyard, investigators found a skull wrapped in paper in a bucket in the basement.
Police are now expanding their search of Sowell's neighborhood and his neatly kept home where more bodies may yet be found.
