New York Terror Trial: Giuliani Says Obama Too "Concerned with Rights of Terrorists"

(CBS)
NEW YORK - Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani saw firsthand the destruction that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is accused of masterminding September 11, 2001 as jetliners smashed into the Twin Towers.

Eight years later, the former Republican candidate for president in not mincing words with the Obama administration, saying Sunday that in bringing those accused of the Sept. 11 attacks to New York for trial, the President has become too concerned with the "rights of terrorists" and is oblivious to, what Giuliani feels, are the real dangers of radical Islam.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed: Can New York Handle Self-Proclaimed Sept. 11 Mastermind?

(AP Photo/www.muslm.net)
WASHINGTON - The last time self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's alleged influence was felt in New York City, two jetliners smashed into the Twin Towers, nearly 3000 died, and a nation came to a standstill of mourning and shock.

Anger followed, as did two wars in far off lands.

Now Mohammed is coming back to the city he allegedly attacked to face a federal civilian jury. He will be tried in a courthouse just blocks from where the towers once stood.

(AP Photo/KATV Television)
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Will a Little Rock jury deliver a death sentence to the killer of Arkansas news anchor Anne Pressly?

The jury convicted Curtis Lavelle Vance of murder, rape and other charges on Wednesday. It is now weighing whether to impose the death penalty on Vance, who police say admitted to beating the KATV anchorwoman with a wood-handled garden tool.

The attack shattered Pressly's face and sent her into a coma. She never regained consciousness and died five days after the Oct. 20, 2008 attack.

(AP Photo/Boulder Police Department)
BOULDER, Colo. - The family of a college student beaten to death 12 years ago told her killer that his life was spared Monday because his victim would not have wanted anyone, even her murderer, to receive the death penalty.

"Her empathy is her killer's greatest salvation," Stephen Chase, the victim's brother, told Diego Olmos Alcalde during his sentencing on Monday. The 39-year-old Chilean national was convicted Friday in the 1997 rape and slaying of Susannah Chase.
