D.C. Sniper John Allen Muhammed's Execution Going Forward; Appeal Thwarted by Supreme Court

NEW YORK - The U.S. Supreme Court has denied a request to block Tuesday's execution of Washington, D.C. sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammed.

The Court did not issue a statement Monday on why it refused to consider his appeal.

The state can now punished nudists for enjoying nature unclad even in areas informally designated as "clothing optional."

Will Supreme Court Help Convicted Enron CEO Jeff Skilling Go Free?

WASHINGTON (CBS/AP) - Will the Supreme Court help disgraced former Enron CEO Jeff Skilling bust out of jail?

Skilling was convicted for his role in the collapse of the one-time energy giant. Now the highest court in the land says it will consider throwing out the convictions of the former Enron Chief Executive Officer. That could lead to a new trial, which, if he wins it, would set the fallen energy king-ping free.

Supreme Court Says Teen Strip Search Illegal

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that school officials violated an Arizona teenager's rights by strip-searching her for prescription-strength ibuprofen, declaring that U.S. educators cannot force children to remove their clothing unless student safety is at risk.

In an 8-1 ruling, the justices said that Safford Middle School officials violated the Fourth Amendment ban on unreasonable searches with their treatment of Savana Redding. The court ruled that the officials could not be held financially liable but left it to lower courts to decide if the school district could.

Supreme Court To Convicts: No Constitutional Right to DNA

A Divided Supreme Court Ruled Against Convicts Seeking Access to DNA Evidence

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court ruled today that convicts have no constitutional right to test DNA evidence to establish their guilt or innocence.

In its 5 to 4 ruling, the court decided against an Alaska man who was convicted in a brutal attack on a prostitute 16 years ago.

William Osborne had won a previous court ruling allowing him to test a condom used in the attack for DNA evidence, which he claimed would firmly establish his innocence or guilt.
