NBA Star "World" B. Free's Ex-Lover Fatally Shot In New York

NEW YORK - Audrey Johnson, a longtime former companion of NBA All-Star Lloyd "World" B. Free, was killed in Brooklyn while trying to stop an assault outside her family's home.

Police said 51-year-old Johnson had just come back home when she heard about a confrontation on the sidewalk in front of her home. She came outside to see what was happening.

Binghamton Religion Professor Richard Antoun Killed by Saudi Student Abdulsalam al-Zahrani, Say Cops

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Those who lived and studied with Abdulsalam al-Zahrani, the Saudi student who, police say, killed religion professor Richard T. Antoun, say he was confrontational and even threatened one roommate with a knife.

Souleyman Sukho said Saturday that the graduate student, accused of fatally stabbing Antoun, a Binghamton University anthropology professor, came at him with a blade during the three weeks they shared an apartment with a third student, Luis Pena.

Tareq and Michaele Salahi: From White House Party Crashers to Check Bouncers?

ROCKVILLE, Md. - While Tareq and Michaele Salahi are perhaps the world's most famous party crashers, a new lawsuit alleges that the clueless couple bounced a nearly $24,000 check for liquor purchased for a charity polo event they held in May.

According to Maryland court documents, the couple returned more than $10,000 worth of the intoxicating merchandise, but the gate crashers still owe more than $13,000.

Two-Year-Old Boy Trips on Hallucinogenic Mushrooms

DENVER - Denver police say a toddler is in good condition after he ingested hallucinogenic mushrooms.

The incident happened on Sunday at an apartment complex, where police say he got the drugs from a friend staying in the home.

The 24-month-old boy was rushed to the hospital after his parents called 9-1-1.

Michael Brewer, Boy Burned by Bullies, Gets New Skin Graft

MIAMI - Fifteen-year-old Michael Brewer, the Deerfield Beach teen doused with rubbing alcohol and set on fire by a group of his peers, has received his second skin graft.

A Jackson Memorial Hospital spokeswoman said Brewer was listed in stable condition after the Dec. 4 procedure. The first graft was Monday.

The attack occurred Oct. 12 and caused burns on about 65 percent of Brewer's body.

Paul Merhige, Alleged Thanksgiving Killer, Seen in Gun Shop Video Day Before Massacre

JUPITER, Fla. - Paul Merhige, the man police believe shot and killed four members of his extended family on Thanksgiving day and has since been on the run, was seen on surviellance video inside a gun shop a day before the killings.

Police say Merhige murdered his aunt, two twin sisters, one of whom was pregnant, and a 6-year-old girl, at a Jupiter, Fla. Home, after a family meal on Thanksgiving day.

Amanda Knox Update: Hillary Clinton Will Meet With Those "Concerned" About Case

WASHINGTON - Days after American Amanda Knox was sentenced to 26 years in an Italian prison for murdering her British roommate, Meredith Kercher, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says she'll meet with anyone who has concerns about the case.

Knox, of Seattle, and her ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were found guilty Dec. 4 of murdering Kercher in what the prosecution has called a sex game gone wrong. All three were college students in Perugia, Italy, when the 2007 slaying occurred.

Michele Linehan, Former Exotic Dancer Who Lured One Lover to Kill Another, Wants New Trial

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Lawyers for Michele Linehan, the former exotic dancer convicted of killing one of several fiancés, asked the Alaska Court of Appeals to overturn her conviction because a jury was allowed to read a victim's "letter from the grave."

Linehan, 37, was convicted in 2007 of luring a man who loved her to kill her former fiancé, Kent Leppink, in hopes of gaining $1 million in life insurance money.

The center of discussion during Thursday's hearing was a letter that Leppink wrote days before he died in 1996, predicting his death and naming Linehan as among his probable killers.

RISING SUN, Ind. - Showing no emotion, Andrew Conley, the Indiana teen who, police say, idolized television serial killer "Dexter" pleaded not guilty to killing his 10-year-old brother.

At the same time, just a few blocks from the courthouse, his mother and father were greeting mourners who came to pay respects to their slain younger son.

Catherine Woods' Killer Paul Cortez Wants a New Trial in Exotic Dancer Murder Case

NEW YORK - Paul Cortez, who in 2007 was convicted of murdering dancer Catherine Woods in her upper East Side apartment, wants his conviction reversed and is requesting a new trial because of "inept" representation, according to an appeal which notes that his lawyers didn't show up until the fourth day of his trial.
