Caught on Tape: Woman's Brush With Death on Boston Train Tracks, Driver Charice Lewis Hailed as Hero



NEW YORK - A Boston woman who fell onto train tracks is lucky to be alive, and two transit workers have been honored for keeping her out of harm's way.

The woman, whose name was not released, toppled onto the tracks just before a subway car pulled into the station -- somehow screeching to a halt, without running her over.

David Letterman Extortion Suspect Robert "Joe" Halderman to Seek Dismissal of Case

NEW YORK - A lawyer for the TV news producer accused of blackmailing talk show host David Letterman plans to ask a judge to dismiss an extortion case that prompted the late-night comic to acknowledge affairs with staffers.

Robert "Joe" Halderman is due in a Manhattan court Tuesday. His defense attorney, Gerald Shargel, said he planned to challenge whether the evidence presented to a grand jury was sufficient and ask a judge to dismiss the attempted first-degree grand larceny charge against his client.

Washington Sniper John Allen Muhammad to be Executed Tuesday Unless Governor Intervenes

RICHMOND, Va. - Unless Virginia's governor steps in, sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad will be executed Tuesday for attacks that terrorized the U.S. capital region for three weeks in 2002.

Muhammad was sentenced to death for killing Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas, Virginia, gas station during a spree that left 10 dead across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Daniel Hauser Fled Home to Avoid Chemotherapy, But Court-Ordered Treatments Seem to Work Wonders

SLEEPY EYE, Minn. - A young boy who fled to avoid conventional cancer treatments on religious grounds, but who was ordered by a judge to come home, appears to now be cancer-free after completing the treatments.

13-year-old Daniel Hauser, of rural Sleepy Eye, Minn., underwent his final radiation session Friday.

Daniel and his mother gained national attention when he stopped chemotherapy treatment after one session in February and fled, citing his religious beliefs, and the fact that the regimen made him ill.

"Texting Party" Ends With One Teen Fatally Shot, Another Wounded

NEW YORK - Texting may not be the root of all evil, but police in Tucson, Ariz. say it did play a role in a party that ended in a fatal shooting early Sunday.

Authorities say the shooting occurred at a "texting party," which is when a group of people begin text messaging an address to more and more friends until a massive group of people, many of whom do not know each other, end up at the party.

Caught on Tape: Teen Killers Interrogated by Police, While Calmly Sharing a Pizza

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Chilling interrogation tape of convicted teenage killers has just being released.

The tape is of the police interrogation of 16-year-old Daniel Russell and 16-year old Calvin Pearson, 3 days after they had broken into the home of 90-year-old Marie Oliver in North Sacramento, Calif., and beaten her to death, using the victim's own cane to finish the deed.

Anthony Sowell: Case Against Accused Cleveland Serial Killer Could Expand Overseas with FBI Interest

CLEVELAND - In Ohio, Anthony Sowell's home and yard hid the remains of at least 11 people. Is it possible the accused serial killer, while serving in the military, was involved in cases still unsolved in Japan, California and the Carolinas?

Lawrence Taylor Arrested in Traffic Accident

NEW YORK - NFL great Lawrence Taylor looks like he needs a time out — to nap.

Taylor, a former New York Giants player, has been released on bond following his arrest in a Miami-area traffic accident.

Miami-Dade County jail records show that Taylor was charged Sunday with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, a second-degree misdemeanor. He was released on $500 bond later that night. It was not immediately clear if Taylor has an attorney.

The psychiatrist who is alleged to have shot dozens of fellow soldiers last week the Fort Hood army post was devout Muslim. He was opposed to both the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He apparently attended the same Virginia mosque where a militant imam preached.
