Word of the Day: Panoply

Over the summer, I heard Katie use this word a lot in interviews with the media. "We want to cover a whole panoply of things," she'd say. Whatzat mean?

panoply (pan'uh ple) n. 1. A complete suit of armor. 2. Any protective covering. 3. Any complete or magnificent covering or array.
I think it's fair to say Katie was using the third definition.

But I also think, doing what she does for a living, she should keep the first one handy. You never know when you might need one.
