Abscam Scandal Lingers as Jack Murtha, Dead Congressman, is Remembered

HARRISBURG, Pa. - As family and friends mourn the death of Rep. John Murtha, the tall, gruff mannered former Marine who became the de facto voice of veterans on Capitol Hill, some political watchdogs are recalling a darker episode in the Congressman's storied past – the Abscam scandal, in which the Pennsylvania lawmaker was caught in an awkward videotaped exchange that suggested he might eventually offer political concessions for cash.

Charlie Sheen Charged With Assault On Wife Brooke Mueller; But Couple Hugs, Leaves Court Together

ASPEN, Colo. - Actor Charlie Sheen was formally charged with assault today stemming from his arrest Christmas Day after a heated argument with his wife Brooke Mueller. The 44-year-old actor was also charged in an Aspen, Colo. court with felony menacing and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Still, the couple hugged after the proceeding and left the court together, after the judge modified a protective order in the case.

Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller Enter Aspen Court, Will Judge Let Them Leave Together?

<ASPEN, Colo. - Actor Charlie Sheen and his wife arrived separately Monday at a courthouse in Aspen, where a judge will decide if the two can leave together.

Sheen, who is facing domestic violence allegations, entered the back of the course house wearing sunglasses and a dark coat. His wife, Brooke Mueller, entered from a side door. Each was accompanied by four people.

John Edwards Sex Tape: Judge Orders Security to Take Video from Former Aide Andrew Young

RALEIGH, N.C. - John Edwards' sex tape — you know, the one that the two-time presidential candidate purportedly made with mistress Rielle Hunter — will now be retrieved with the help of a security officer, a judge's order declared Monday, increasing the court's control of the disputed sordid video.

Superior Court Judge Abraham Penn Jones said that the Orange County sheriff has appointed a security firm to help recover the alleged x-rated video and other items.

Gigi Jordan, Socialite Who Allegedly Killed Son, Thought Devil Cult Was Abusing Him, Say Cops

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) - Gigi Jordan, a 49-year-old socialite, who police say murdered her 8-year-old son and attempted to take her own life in a posh New York hotel, wrote a series of disturbing letters claiming her son was sexually abused by a devil worshipping cult, according to a Wyoming detective who investigated the case.

On Friday, Jordan's young boy, Jude Michael Mirra, was found dead from a drug overdose at the Peninsula Hotel in New York. Jordan was slumped on the floor nearby. She has since been charged with his death.

Pregnant Mom Dorothy Dixon Beaten, Boiled, Used as Target Practice While Captors Collected Her Money

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Illinois police say Michelle Riley and her cohorts subjected Dorothy Dixon, a mentally disabled woman who was five months pregnant, to unspeakable horrors including beatings, burnings and using her for target practice, while keeping her as a human slave and pocketing her disability checks.

Riley was sentenced Friday to 45 years in prison, which was the maximum allowed in a deal reached between defense and prosecutors. Riley's attorney argued for a 30-year sentence, saying she did not act alone.

Saints Parade: Three Shot in French Quarter Hours Before Saints Go Marching

NEW ORLEANS - Less than 48 hours before the Saints go marching from the city's convention center to the Superdome, three people were shot in the historic French Quarter during the post Super Bowl celebration.

Police say the victims, a man and two women, are all local residents. Their names were not released.

Mechele Linehan Wins Murder Appeal, "Letter from Grave" Haunts Prosecutors

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Mechele Linehan, the former exotic dancer convicted for killing a romantic interest for a million dollar life insurance policy, will get another chance at freedom. The Alaska Court of Appeals overturned her conviction Friday, leaving the door open for a new trial.

Linehan's murder trial made national headlines in 2007, in part because prosecutors alleged that Linehan had convinced three men that she was engaged to them at the same time and two of them lived in the same house with her.

Was Baby Eddie Salazar Murdered by His Father or Taken by Masked Men?

CARTHAGE, Mo. - According to his father, 8-month-old Eddie Salazar Jr. was taken by two men wearing all black and ski masks after they broke into the family's home, ransacked the property, and beat the dad unconscious.

Now, Missouri police say they have found the boy dead, and instead of hunting down the masked intruders, they consider the child's father, Eddie Salazar Sr., the prime suspect in the baby's death.
