Eric Mohat, 17, shot himself in March 2007 after his parents say repeated bullying incidences were ignored by his school district in Mentor, Ohio. Mohat's mother told CBS News
she believes her son's suicide was provoked by a comment by one of Mohat's classmates that nobody would miss him if he shot himself.
Mohat's parents, William and Janis Mohat of Mentor, Ohio, filed a federal lawsuit, saying that their son endured bullying in front of school officials who should have protected him.
School attorneys claim his parents' own negligence contributed to the suicide.
Justices are not expected to rule on the question of law for several months.
