Watch Motley Crue's Vince Neil's head-scratching performance of the national anthem

This take on the national anthem makes us think Vince Neil of Motley Cure should stick to rock and roll and power ballads.

Neil, 54, took the the field Monday ahead of the Outlaws Arena Football League home opener game at the new Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas franchise to sing "The Star Spangled Banner," and let's just say it was all sorts of wrong. Off-key? Check. Timing off? Check. To his credit, this is not an easy song to sing. But it makes sense why he was there -- Neil is co-owner of the Outlaws team.

Scroll to 5:11 to watch the performance.

And to recover from that sloppy rendition, let's rock out to this sweet power ballad from 1985.

If you want to relive the '80s this summer Motley Crue has a batch of U.S. dates lined up as part of "The Final Tour." Go here for the schedule and more on tickets.
