Heating up

As President Obama spoke about the threat of global warming in Alaska, most of the Republican presidential candidates refuted the notions that climate change is a threat and humans are to blame for it. Rebecca Kaplan takes a look at where the GOP candidates stand on global warming.

Climate changed

President Obama couldn't have picked a better place to make his case for acting on climate change. Alaska has had one of its worst wildfire seasons in memory and its glaciers -- like so many around the world -- are melting, creating new risks, as well as economic opportunities.

Changing race

The race for the White House is getting scrambled once again. Nancy Cordes reports that a series of new polls shows Hillary Clinton losing ground on the Democratic side and an unexpected contender surging on the Republican side.

America's ultrapoor

The number of U.S. residents who are struggling to survive on just $2 a day has more than doubled since 1996, placing 1.5 million households and 3 million children in this desperate economic situation. Aimee Picchi speaks to the authors of a new book explaining what's behind the dire figures.

Overdose trial

The unusual murder trial of a Los Angeles doctor enters its second day. Lisa Tseng faces a second-degree murder charge after some of her patients died of overdoses from prescriptions she ordered. John Blackstone explains why prosecutors say she is responsible for their deaths.

Lost passenger

More than five million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and six in 10 people with dementia will wander, risking possible death. Only on "CBS This Morning," the Dupuy family tells Kris Van Cleave how the struggle turned into an even greater nightmare when their father vanished at New York's LaGuardia Airport, and why they're suing American Airlines.

Weighing on the brain

Carrying too many extra pounds at age 50 could harm your brain health down the road. A new study finds people who are overweight in midlife are more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease at a younger age -- and the more overweight, the sooner dementia may strike.

After work

With just 16 months left in office, there are hints about President Obama's post-White House plans. The president of Columbia University caused a stir Monday when he told students the school looks forward to welcoming President Obama in 2017. Michelle Miller reports from the Ivy League campus where the president spent his formative years.

Twitter bias?

As Twitter looks for new leadership, critics are blasting its latest efforts at improving how it recruits and retains women and people of color. The director of one civil rights advocacy group tells Robert Hennelly the tech company's moves have only made matters worse.
