The next few summers will be even more amazing than this one, thanks to a little Spidey help.
Sony has set release dates for its third and fourth "The Amazing Spider-Man" films, which will hit theaters on June 10, 2016, and May 4, 2018, respectively -- making it the first superhero franchise to include a fourth film (three is the norm).
And there's a reason for that -- it's called success. In 2012, "The Amazing Spider-Man" captured more than $750 million at the worldwide box office, with Andrew Garfield starring as the web-slinger.
Sony vice chairman Jeff Blake said when announcing the two dates of the films: "Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we're thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years."
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which is currently under production in New York, will be released on May 2, 2014.
