Before you know it, taxes will be due. This year, deadline day is April 18, not the usual April; 15, due to a holiday Washington, D.C. observes on the 15th, which falls on a Friday.

But it's never too early to figure out how to pay the least you can to the IRS, and on "The Early Show," personal finance expert Carmen Wong Ulrich, author of "The Real Cost of Living: Making the Best Choices for You, Your Life, and Your Money," shared pointers to help you keep your tax tab down.
