Sotomayor Has Slight Ankle Fracture

The White House this morning announced that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor fractured her ankle after tripping at New York's LaGuardia Airport on her way to Washington this morning.

However, the injury does not appear to be serious, as she has already been released from a hospital in Washington and the the White House was clear to point out she is keeping her full schedule of meetings with senators today.

Here is the full statement from Ben LaBolt, a White House spokesman:


This morning, on the way to Washington, D.C., Judge Sotomayor tripped at LaGuardia Airport. After an x-ray at Medical Faculty Associates, it was determined that Judge Sotomayor has a small fracture in her right ankle. She has been treated and released, and is looking forward to keeping her full schedule of meetings on Capitol Hill this afternoon.

Update 3:46 p.m. ET: We now have picture of Sotomayor making the rounds on Capital Hill. Here she is with Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley from Iowa:
